The Outsider
Yes damnit never been surer! Please play Dropthiv in the next test!!! Please!!! He'll still drop the catches but might not reverse sweep Murali in the last couple of overs of the day with the score 140/5! There I said it......never thought I would be rooting to play Dropthiv again but Karthik has transformed my inner soul. Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
... sigh. Oh, who's the least of the evils? Maybe - just for two tests - is it worth going on both knees and pleading with Dravid to take the gloves, bat at 5 or 6 to lower his workload (VVS moving up to 3), and slipping in some other batsman? Ram
I am not so sure on this. You can possibly drop a guy after ONE bad shot, thats not the way you conduct things in a professional set-up. But mind you, I would have preferred Parthiv over KKD in the first place. He has a much tighter technique that is well suited for test cricket. But just for the mere fact that KKD played this test, I think it will be unfair to sack him now. So yes, in my opinion, he should be given another chance. Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
So what's the least of the evils? Karthik, who can't bat with brains and can't catch? Dropthiv, who can't catch but may make some runs. Dravid, who can catch but may not make as many runs, and another batsman who may or may not make more runs? Link to comment

Mr. Wicket
Yes. But I don't dislike the idea of KKD as keeper due to one bad performance in his comeback. My objection stems from the fact that by switching between specialist bat (and regular outfielder) and keeper batsman and not being able to focus on either discipline, his keeping has deteriorated from what it was in 2005. Deteriorated to a level that there are better choices around the country. Link to comment

It's not just that one shot....the team was in deep trouble and all he had to do was hang in there till the end of days play and take it from there on to help India reach a respectful total he played a reverse sweep and got a lucky four and then he was trying to show Murali who the boss is?!!! He conceded a world record byes in his last test, dropped two catches in this test, and played a reverse sweep, yes those are the words a damn reverse sweep against arguably the best spinner in history in the middle of a wonderful spell with the team trailing by 450 runs and 2-3 overs to go before stumps. The topped it by trying to hoick a doosra over mid wicket 2 balls later. This is test cricket not some last chance salon of the wild west. Link to comment

beetle
He deserves the sack for his moronic attempt at batting. Show him the door and get some sense in him. Link to comment

beetle
It was not "his getting out" but the scant responsibility he showed for the match situation that is getting him the flak.He would have got out anyways,no one really expected him to be the lone savior. But he could have atleast tried to play responsibly. The only way he can become a decent keeper is by spending a few months in domestic cricket. Link to comment

I agree and concede to that. He shouldnt have played in the first place. But, now that he is there, surely he cant be dumped after ONE test match. Thats not the way you deal with a professional cricketer. At the least, he a deserves a chance to make amends. Link to comment
