from rediff: It was a sad end for the Shah couple, who fell victims to Saturday night's terror attack that killed not only the husband and wife, but also their unborn child. It looked as if destiny was playing a cruel game with Dr Parek Shah (32) who along with his pregnant wife was killed at the Civil Hospital where one of the 16 serial bomb blasts took place. According to close friends of the family, 28-year-old Kinjal was waiting the entire day to go to the hospital for her periodic maternity check-up. "Shah, who was busy in the hospital treating patients didn't get time during the entire day to bring his wife for check up," said a family friend. Kinjal, who was three months pregnant and lived within walking distance of the hospital, finally went to the hospital where she met her husband. Tragically, a blast took place in the hospital, killing both Shah, an orthopaedic doctor, and his wife instantly. It was for the first time that hospitals where initial blasts victims were being treated were targeted by terrorists in the country. On Saturday, 16 bomb blasts ripped through Ahmedabad, leaving 45 dead and 145 injured. WHAT KIND OF AN ANIMAL KILLS CHILDREN... AND FAMILIES IN THE NAME OF GOD!!!

Capital punishment? The suspects would be caught followed by a long investigation. Years later chargesheets would be filed. IN the mean while news channels would be running programs on how the suspects' families are suffering taking interviews of the weeping wives and children. A slight deviation from the exact rules will bring out human rights organizations to the roads claiming that even terrorism suspects are human beings and they have their right to a fair trial. If the terrorist is a big one, another Kandhar will happen and the terrorist will get free. If not, after a decade and half, some high court will order half of them to be hanged and other half to life terms. THere will be appeals on basis of humanity, errors in investigation, hostile witnesses, political pressure etc. THen the same drama will repeat in the supreme court.

There is a solution to that. It is called encounter.:giggle:

Just saw some videos of the wound and injured.... These terrorists must be exterminated mercilessly and every possible means available must be used to make sure these things no longer happen. Am pretty sure that in such cases of serial blasts, elements of the local population must have also been involved. If that be the case, it will only increase the already present animosity between the different communities.

As an individual i try to keep an open mind but after seeing whats happening in my country how do I think straight. Its no longer a foreign hand, its people among us who are helping these things happen; and most of the people behind such acts are educated people doctors, engg. working for reputed companies. So how does one not generalize ?

You think I am not angry at all this? Just seeing the images of the dead and injured is an heart-wrenching experience. God knows how many families and livelihoods have been put in turmoil because of this. But, mass generalization will only make matters worse. The bitter reality of India as a nation is we have peoples of different colors, different faiths, different linguistic backgrounds. Clashes, hatred and suspicion is inevitable. But, the worst thing we could do is to over-react and isolate large sections of population. If it goes to the point when a normal Muslim/Christian/Sikh no longer has faith in the institution that is India, then we are potentially looking at group of 250 million who feel left out and discriminated by the system. The ramifications of such a manifestation can be catastrophically disastrous. Would you like to have such a circumstance, ever? But, enough if enough. Its one thing to be measured in your approach, but its monumentally stupid to remain silent as these heartless terrorists strike at will at the common man. What shameless cowards are these species, striking at people who have no self-defense! I would dearly want to know, what has the Indian govt done since the last wave of terror attacks? What have they done to go after terrorists across the border? Or the safe havens they get inside our country? Or the massive money laundering racket that goes on to finance these specimens? When 2300 Americans died in a terror attack, the whole world changed. 100s of Indians keep dying every month. Nothing ever happens. Are we all idiots to just sit silently and watch?

Whether people here would like to admit it or not, there is no doubt that the Muslim community in India has SERIOUS issues. Sure, they are most the backward, most uneducated community there is and as a result, also the most isolated. But it's not just the lack of education which is the problem. That's not the point. The most worrying thing is that in recent years, even the educated muslims have started getting involved in this. The people who run SIMI aren't your quintessential Indian muslims who live in poverty - they are people who have studied in colleges and have degrees. It's a student movement. The fact that the terrorist idealogies which previously found favor solely amongst the poor are now being instilled in the minds of those people who you and i would regard as reasonable due to their middle-class background is the biggest cause for concern. It's these muslims who you would expect to speak out against the atrocities, but when they are the ones who are behind it or indirectly involved in it, what can you do ? Unfortunately most Indians are either 1) oblivious to what's going on or 2) caught up in the age-old bhaichara which propogates that all Indian muslims are guys like Abdul Kalam and Aamir Khan. We won't be seeing an end to these terrorist attacks soon as long as these blind sympathisers continue to have a [louder] voice

Just before the biggest idiot and cluless home minister Shivraj Patil was blabberring, equally clueless were our so called media journalists, who failed to ask some obvious questions--- (1) When a bonafide terrorist Afzal was sentenced by India's highest court why did ruling Congress party pressurized the Prez to pardon him?? What kind of message Congress conveyed to terrorists?? P-secs arguement was that it will hurt the sentiments of Kashmiri Muslims. I ask some simple question, why Indian Muslims will feel pain for punishing terrorists?? Why Congress party thinks that tough anti-terror laws like POTA will hurt Indian Muslims and thus their traditional vote bank?? Thses attacks are not going to end, and the brand of secualrism preached by Congress party since last 60 years is going to keep India in turmoil forever. This kind of secularism is a perfect way of pushing India into chaos. Kudos Congressis, Kudos Commis for achieving what enemies of our country were unable to do.

Ironically mass generalization comes from psec brigade.. it;s them who claim mmuslim will be offended if we hag Afal Guru it's them who claim so and so law will targte only those people.. hindutva parties keep telling terrorist have no religion it just so happens they are more often than not muslim by name but their religion is murder and mayhem..

In any blast participation of local element is must.. It's next to imposible for any forienf element to walk ain and implement all this .. It might happen in movies but in real life it doesn't happen..

I would like to add this poor were never mass-mobilized and can never be mass-mobilized for long in any cause .. For them first priority is bread and butter... Yes in order to fill their stomach few of them might get lured to those sick ways but it ends right there.. it's educated folks who stick to some sick ideology and even have justification for that and when they get mobilized you are in seriouos trouble and that's not the time for fence-sitting lest we might offend someone .. If something stinks covering it with big words might check the sink only for so long.......

NO. The worst thing we can do is under-react, and we have been doing that for sometime now. It is because of lack of collective will of people, mostly p-secularism, that has led to the current situation. The answer is clear, really. In the final matter, the BIG HINDU vote gets divided and finally becomes useless in BIG PICTURE, since most hindu p-secs vote for congress/CPI-M(Crap Party of India-Mofo), and rest of hindus vote for BJP. The minority vote becomes the one which decides the election then, and hence, congress has to appease them. Not hanging Afzal Guru is just one of the examples. Manmohan Singh doesn't lose sleep over dozens of blasts all over country. Nobody is asking you to OVERREACT. Just vote for a government that DOES NOT depend on muslim vote to survive. By nature, congress cannot form such a govt, only BJP can. For all the collective goodwill congressmen might have, they can do jackshit in case of handling terrorism, due to the dependence. Give that old man Advani one term, and we will see the difference.

Now we are talking.. Same question BJP has been asking .. well you dropped POTA but then what have you done differently to expect different results.. Frequency of blasts have gone dramatically up but yet you are sellng more of same....... When they ask the usual answer is "let us not politicise the issue" Conveniently ignoring the fact that it's them who are politicsing by selcetive approval or disapproval fo POTA like laws in congress and BJP ruled states.. I ask is life of people of Maharashtra more precious than people of Gujarat or rajsthan. Then why are they sitting on the legislation which might strengthen the intelligence gathering arm of police deptt. Fact is since last 11-12 blast durign UPA not even one person has been brought to book.. Everytime Rudy asked this question the host at NDTV took mike away from him.... Media is playing footsi wiht these UPA morons and hence they are emboldened and sitting idle ther.. I don;t freaking care if steps which they take doesn;t work but bloody take some steps.> How can you expect different result with same sort of safeguards.... Yes I am hindu -terrorist or voicng these opinions

Fact of the matter is, No govt in the last 20 years can say with any sense of pride that it was able to curtail terrorism in India. After all, wasnt it under the BJP rule that the terrorists managed to attack the parliment? But If I were honest, it has to be accepted that terrorism and extremism were at the forefront of the BJP coalition's ruling agenda... It was them who implemented POTA, it was them who amassed a million troops on the border in Kashmir, making sure the whole world new what was going on. Under the UPA though, things seem to have taken a back seat. I suppose you cant possibly achieve anything with vote-bank politicans like Laloo and the left on board, in the govt. Thank God the left are gone now.

Who is funding this ? Why cant we cut the funds ? I read somewhere money generated from hindi movies audio and video piracy directly funds these groups.
