Rajiv
Jaya was plumb and there's no way he could have hit that, it was nothing but EGO and arrogance which cost him that review. This is will go on for sure, big players would go down but throw in a knee jerk T sign for a chance to get away Waiting for the aussies to get around this, will they have a strategy to this system - they always have some trick up their sleeve Link to comment
DomainK
Yes Rajeev. That was sheer ego from Jaya who had been very wise so far. But this system is ruthless. You get caught if you are not honest. Worse: your side loses an appeal out of only three and you are accountable if you are caught misusing it. Some batsmen would learn by making mistakes and some others would learn from examples. But soon they all will know that its not a good idea at all to challenge a decision unless you are sure that you are not out. Link to comment
King Tendulkar
Disgusting decison against KUMBLE had plumb lbw turned down bt referal. This was suppoosed to get rid of bias against Inida. Still these cheating umpires find away to screw us:angry_smile: Link to comment

Still these cheating umpires find away to screw us:angry_smile: The system can not remove a bias unless the authorities wish so. Authorities that the umpires are appointed by and report to. I am not sure whether the third umpire gave false interpretations to Banson or Banson just did what he always loved to do, but someone is screwing with a lot of guts. Link to comment
Desi Cartman
are these umpires answerable to anybody ? I mean can the indian team ask them to explain why they game some decisions incorrectly. Maybe the umpires just wanna piss Indians off so we dont ask for the 3rd umpire anymore :(( Link to comment

Maybe the umpires just wanna piss Indians off so we dont ask for the 3rd umpire anymore :(( No. India can at best lodge an official complaint which will be ignored as usual by ICC. But if BCCI wants, they can make a difference. But BCCI uses its powers only in matters where serious money is involved. BCCI is the biggest money spinner with the backing of all Asian boards and they can even get other boards to support them if they want. If they wanted to solve these umpiring problems, they can do it. But they wont as the actions don't translate into direct money for them. All we need is: 1. Get rid of incompetent umpires. Why is there an Ashoka D Silva in the elite panel after he failed a written test for umpiring? 2. Keep consistent training programs for umpires. Why are umpires getting caught not knowing the rules that everyone else seems to know? Fire them if they dont know the rules by heart? 3. Dont appoint match referees that have no basic idea for arbitration. 4. Any umpire who is making too many mistakes must be demoted and fired. Is that tough? Not at all. Link to comment
King Tendulkar
I also demand to know why there are still no INDIAN UMPIRES on the elite panel. I am sick of hearing the weak excuse there are none good enough! To me its indicative of the bias against INDIA! Link to comment

MalikBrother
A biased umpiring is happening against Sri Lanka, but not India. Most of decisions went favor to India due to on field umpires, but due to review system, that changed the whole picture. As Jaya mentioned, that if you are sure that it's not out, then go for it. Sadly, Tony just happened to question Tendulkar integrity now. Just read his recent interview Link to comment

ludhianvi
Coming back to Tendulkar's dismissal and him asking for a review. There did seem to be two noises and those were later confirmed to be hitting his front and back pads. Even Tony assumed that Tendulkar may have edged it initially, and only the replays confirmed that Tendulkar's bat hadnt hit the ball. As for Tendulkar's animated response, he seemed to be questioning the non-striker Gautam Gambhir about the decision and then signaled for the review. Link to comment
Guest dada_rocks
56.6 Kumble to Samaraweera, no run, Kumble asks for the review for a lbw decision. It landed on back of length, outside off stump, skidded towards middle and off and hit the pad. The doubt that might rise is that whether it hit the bat at the same time but the side-view replay show that it hit the pad first. And it looks out. Decision still pending. It hit the inner half of the front pad. Hold on .. the verdict is NOT OUT. Kumble has a word with the umpire and walks away disappointed. Tendulkar, sitting in the dressing room, signals it was out - he put up the index finger up. And also suggests it was skidding on rather than bouncing. Controversy here. Anyway that's that. Let's carry on. Perhaps, the umpire reckoned it would have bounced over. The virtual eye says it would have hit the top half of the middle stump what the heck is this.. guys can't be consistent even in referral.. Link to comment
umpire
Regarding Tendulkar, I am sure he hit it. There was woody sound, it hit bottom of this bat. I am damn sure it was bat. Link to comment
