If Ganguly gets dropped ...

Recommended Posts

If Ganguly gets dropped then who do you feel should be the replacement ? I wouldnt mind seeing Irfan Pathan because he is a true all-rounder, good fielder, can bowl long spells aswell. If we are after a specialist batsman, then it should be Badrinath but im afraid they'll go with either Rohit Sharma (who has not yet proven he can play long innings) and Yuvraj (who has proven he is not a test player). Pathan might provide good balance in our side. Sehwag Gambhir Dravid Tendulkar Laxman Dhoni Pathan Kumble Harbhajan / (3rd paceman) ... depending on conditions Zaheer Ishant I think that is a much better balanced side.

I don't see Tendulkar' date=' Dravid and Ganguly to star in WC 2011. They should retire and let youngsters play. India already has better replacement of them which is impressive[/quote'] Well Dravid and Ganguly are not in the ODI side ... so i dont know why you even thought that in the first place. As for Sachin, I expect him to retire from ODIs and concentrate on tests within the next year because i dont think his body can handle it.

Ganguly, Dravid and Laxman are already out of the ODI side....forget WC 2011.:haha: Tendulkar is the only one of the seniors left and the last time he played ODI, he thrashed the world champions in their own backyard. However, his test form is under serious question right now.

He had a terrible series ... no doubt ... Lets give him a bit more time ... History has shown he bounces back when questioned ... Questions are arising about his 2nd innings performances. He has played well in 1st innings over the past year ... if these questions arise now he could really fire up for the Aussie series.

In any case ... this wasnt supposed to be a thread about sachin ... its supposed to be about who should be the replacement for Ganguly if he gets dropped
Hey Bharat, How about a horses for courses thing and we should select Yuvraj for the series vs Australia, England and Pak since all three are subcontinent? We can replace him with Badri when we tour NZ later! Irfan is useless on subcontinent pitches and hence I will not recomment a bits and pieces player for a test match because it'll be neither here nor there!

If Ganguly is dropped from the test side, he wont stop till he's burned the entire house down. After all, for being left out of the ODI side, he's whined and groaned endlessly. Till two months ago , my opinion was; 'If any of our MO batsman dont play due to form/fitness, the automatic replacement was Yuvraj'. That stands changed now. I would love to see Bardi turn out in Whites for Team India.

Ganguly is history. He has now played his last test for India. RD, VVS and SRT survive. Ganguly will be the scapegoat for a collective failure. He actually looked good while he was out there. Personally, I would give him a longer rein but I think his time is up. His replacement would be Yuvraj who sucks in test cricket. I forsee terrible losing times for India for the next couple of years.
