The whole world worries about people who died in 911 but tell me how many people actually even know the number of people who have died in kashmir ? Why is it that the UN/USA stopped India from using the air force during kargil conflict and when NY was attacked then these same people were ready to attack any country in the world. I agree in a way with Mhr, I think he meant that why is it that life of an American has more value than of an Indian ... why ? RIP all victims of terrorism !
veer Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 yeahh it was heart wrenching experience. .i was in car going to class when I heard this on radio.. my heart was breaking while hearing all that.. then after watching this in evening and absorbing exactly what happened.. with stories of fireman, police etc.. i was in tears.. rest in peace guys.... and those who say that it was a conspiracy needs to examine their heads.. bunch of unthankfuls.. if it was conspiracy to wage a war.. it would have been atomic bomb type of response on those ememy countries..

Because Indians are that way. Two examples shall suffice, one at ICF other outside. a) In Politics section you have a thread on USA election(Palin etc etc). That thread received so many more responses than say something like Tata Nano factory, Nuclear deal etc. In fact it has received more responses than those I mentioned put together. b) In the week that Bihar was ravaged by floods, half the state immersed under water and over a quarter of the population directly affected..the lead article in Mumbai Daily(Mid-day) was picture of a new Orleans women awaiting Hurricane! I remember trying to post the picture here under Poignant thread header but somehow missed it. If Indians are ambivalent towards fellow Indians why would America or anyone else be any different? xxx

Life became too much more paranoid, people became more circumspect and cynical. The free living atitude towards life changed to a hateful, war-mongering world. 100% agree.

As a brown guy, I almost feel the entire world's eyes are on me, as I pass through airport security. Its like the security official takes that one second extra, verifying my boarding pass and my ID. It makes me feel uncomfortable, like I have been victimized for no fault of mine. Since 9/11, we've had terms like 'War on Terror', 'Clash of cultures', 'Crusade' used so loosely, its not even funny anymore. Terrorism isnt new, but its consequences since 9/11 have been new.

American media will give utmost importance to the local/national news and though people may not know what's happening in other parts they know local/national issues. In India it can be quite the opposite sometimes...

Where the hell did your education from? madrassah? 9/11 changed the course of history....every country woke up to islamic terrorism after that. Hijacking 4 planes and using them as missile.... unbelievable! Can one imagine how much determined these guys were to kill men, women and children? how much planning they did with precision? how much brainwashed they were to not care about their own death but to raise jihad? Youngest victim in Pentagon crash...was 3 yr old girl who was in that plane, oldest victim was 71 yrs old Navy captain. A survivor found that girl's backpack and shoes and that's about it....everytime I think of this...blood boils!! I sincerely hope that u will make an anniversary thread for 1000's who died in floods in bihar... half a million who died in Tsunami , 1000's of our soldiers killed at kargil...
