why the *** is it kumble? i have never seen him pull of blinders... that position requires quick refelxes which i doubt jumbo at this age has anymore.. surely, we can get a better fielder there? he was misfielding there day 2 of irani too... I think fielding wise he is not that good, people get on ganguly, because the way he runs around in the outfeild and crap... but never anyone says anything about kumble.. Team india has done a nice job of hiding him, esp. from u guys:-D

Actually, I have rarely seen him drop catches. He's made a lot of decent stops and taken a few good catches too.

true.. but ever seen him diving away? aus/sa players give it a try, get em sometimes, and dont sometime...but atleast they try kumble will catch ones that are hit straight to him.. otherwise wont even try.. just jump up late

But, we dont have any 'yengster' in our test team, who can dive around.:-D Fast bowlers cant stand there, nor can bhajji. Dravid is at slips, so is Lax and Sachin. Dhoni keeps. That leaves us with Gambhir, Sehwag and Kumble. I suppose Kumble takes that spot before others, so that he doesnt have to run.

btw Dravid, i am not sure if if you watched yesterday's play, on the contrary, he did dive a bit and saved a a boundry or two here n there.

i watched some of it, and he had misfield twice :D also its not just about catches.. its also about stopping runs by diving and also chasing down edges b4 they cross the boundary

if there is only 1 slip, i.e. dravid, sehwag can be a good gully but he is a point feilder as well if kaif is in the 11, sehwag should have no problem standing in the gully gambhir wouldn't be a bad choice either
