More... India A v New Zealand A, 2nd Test, Chennai, 2nd day Mishra's six hauls India A back Cricinfo staff October 4, 2008 India A 162 for 3 (M Vijay 76*, Pujara 49*) trail New Zealand A 315 (Mishra 6-81) by 153 runs Scorecard Amit Mishra, recently called up to India's Test side against Australia, hauled the A side back with a six-wicket haul before M Vijay extended his form with an unbeaten 76 by stumps on day two in Chennai. New Zealand A, overnight 270 for 3, folded for 315 with Mishra running through the middle and lower orders. India slipped to 96 for 3, with Sourav Ganguly making just 14, but Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara added 66 to take the score to 162 for 3. New Zealand's collapse, after the openers added 190, was unexpected. The Indian bowlers had toiled on the first day, but enjoyed much success against a brittle middle order. Mishra had first-day figures of 2 for 62, but chipped away to bowl them out for 315. His figures of 6 for 81 gave him his 16th five-wicket haul. Ravindra Jadeja's left-arm spin yielded the last two wickets in the 120th over. Vijay, who scored 45 and 57 batting at No. 3 in the first Test, opened the innings today and looked on to see India slip to 24 for 2. The third wicket came when Ganguly was run out cheaply. In Pujara, Vijay found some stability, and crossed his second fifty of the series. Pujara was unbeaten on 49 from 115 balls.

Ganguly flops but India A recover from shaky start October 04, 2008 20:42 IST Last Updated: October 04, 2008 20:50 IST Sourav Ganguly [images] failed to get the match practice he desperately sought ahead of the opening Test against Australia [images] after being dismissed for just 14 runs. But India A recovered from a shaky start to post 162 for three in their first innings on the second day of the four-day match against New Zealand [images] A in Chennai on Saturday. Unbeaten knocks by opener M Vijay (76) and Cheteshwar Pujara (49) lifted India A after their bowlers fought back well to dismiss New Zealand A, overnight 270 for 3, for 315 in 30 overs just before lunch. But the hosts' first innings did not start on a very confident note and they were reeling at 56 for three, with opener Sahil Kukreja (0), captain Suresh Raina (11) and Ganguly (14), who was run-out, back in the pavilion. Ganguly started off with a boundary to third man, played cautiously thereafter and picked a few singles, with Vijay getting more strike. Kiwi skipper Peter Fulton introduced spin in the form of Nathan McCullum and runs became scarce. However, an unfazed Ganguly swept him to the fence when he strayed down the leg-side. But the fireworks did not last long and Ganguly got out in the 23rd over. Vijay played the ball in the square leg region and called for a quick single. Ganguly responded a trifle late and a direct throw from James Marshall caught him out of the crease at the striker's end with his bat in the air. He faced 39 balls during his 57-minute stay at the crease. But, Vijay (192b, 9x4, 2x6) teamed up with Pujara (118b, 4x4) to resurrect the Indian innings. The two added 106 valuable runs in 39 overs for the unfinished fourth-wicket stand. Earlier, leg-spinner Amit Mishra (6 for 81) continued with his impressive performance as he claimed four wickets, conceding just 19 runs off his 12 overs this morning, and left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja took two for 50 as New Zealand's batting collapsed for yet another time. Medium pacer R P Singh provided the breakthrough in the morning, sending back Greg Hay, who looked dangerous on Friday, for 49 after the batsmen added just five runs. The Indian reply started on a disastrous note with Kukreja getting out in the second over, edging Trent Boult to wicketkeeper Reece Young after playing outside the off-stump. Raina was trapped leg before by Bradely Scott in his very first over, the 10th in the innings, with the score on 24. Vijay, who scored 57 in the second innings of the previous match, and Pujara then rebuilt the innings mixing caution and strokeplay in the post-tea session. Both did not hesitate to punish the bowlers whenever they erred. Vijay reached his half-century in the 44th over with a flick to the fine leg fence off McCullum and the team's 100 was also up. McCullum, who claimed eight wickets in the first match, shouldered the bowling responsibility from the pavilion end and at one stage bowled unchanged for 19 overs but did not cause much trouble to Vijay and Pujara. He came in for special treatment from Vijay, who hit him for two sixes both over mid-wicket. The batsmen cut loose in the last hour and runs started flowing, forcing Fulton to make frequent bowling changes but without any success. What a stupid headline by the feed! FLOPS!!! He was run out! Is the Feed anti ganguly?
Last time I checked, run out was still one of the kind of dismissals. So FLOP is appropriate as Ganguly managed only 14 runs vs NZ's fringe XI.

The third wicket came when Ganguly was run out cheaply; he responded late to a call for a single and a direct throw from James Marshall caught him short of the crease at the striker's end with his bat in the air.
Its about time you start checking before barfing on ICF :finger:

New Zealand A well-placed October 05, 2008 20:29 IST New Zealand [images] A players stole the show on the penultimate day of the four-day match against India A, as they not only stopped their counterparts from taking advantage of a good start but also helped themselves to a 146-run lead, in Chennai, on Sunday. The visitors dismissed India A for 276 in the first innings, taking a 39-run lead, and then reached 107 for three in their second innings. At stumps, Greg Hay (15) and James Marshall (8) were at the crease. Skipper Peter Fulton played a breezy 33-run knock and was well-supported by opener Martin Guptil (41) in their second essay. The two added 60 runs for the second wicket after Aaron Redmond (5), centurion in the first innings, made a quick exit. R P Singh had him caught in the fifth over of the innings by Ravindra Jadeja. Fulton had two reprieves when Pradeep Sangwan and Ashok Dinda dropped him in the deep and struck some powerful shots. He hit two towering sixes off Amit Mishra but fell to the same bowler in the 17th over, playing across the line. India skipper Suresh Raina scalped Guptil leg before the wicket, but the batsman appeared unhappy over the decision. Earlier, Resuming at 162 for 3, India never got on top of the New Zealand bowling and were all out for 276 in 119.1 overs just before tea. Leg-spinner Aaron Redmond ran through the long Indian tail taking four for 30, with the day's spell reading 7.1-2-15-4. M Vijay, 76 overnight, missed a deserving century as he was dismissed on 98 by off-spinner Nathan MCcullum after adding 139 runs for the fourth wicket with Cheteshwar Pujara (80). The two added 33 runs today. Once Pujara departed, India started losing wickets at regular intervals and fell well short of the Kiwi total. Vijay and Pujara relied on picking the singles initially and once he got into in 90s, he cut loose and hit two boundaries of medium pacer Trent Boult. However, he fell in the very next over to McCullum when he was caught by Fulton at short cover. Pujara was out in the fourth over after lunch when he edged Ian O'Brien. Wicketkeeper Reece Young collected the catch after a fumble. The New Zealand bowlers did not allow the batsmen any easy runs and got good support from the fielders who took a couple of good catches, as India found the going tough in the post-lunch session. Ravindra Jadeja never looked comfortable and played a lot of dot balls. He consumed 24 balls to score his first run and ended up facing 125 balls for his 33. Stumper Wriddhiman Saha (10), the last recognized batsman, started off with a couple of boundaries easing the pressure, but did not last long and holed out to Guptill at mid-on off the bowling of McCullum. Redmond then dismissed Amit Mishra (2), R P Singh (6), Sangwan (2) and Jadeja as the India A innings folded. New Zealand A crush poor India A New Zealand A ensured their tour of India ended on a positive note with a crushing 133-run win over India A in Chennai. More... India A v New Zealand A, 2nd Test, Chennai, 4th day New Zealand crush poor India Cricinfo staff October 6, 2008 New Zealand A 315 and 194 for 7 (Marshall 43, Guptill 41) beat India A 276 (M Vijay 98, Pujara 80, Redmond 4-30) and 100 (O-Brien 3-30) by 133 runs Scorecard New Zealand A ensured their tour of India ended on a positive note with a crushing 133-run win over India A in Chennai. A declaration at 194 for 7 meant India needed 234 to take the series 2-0, but the hosts folded for just 100, meaning New Zealand took a slice of the contest. Overnight 107 for 3, New Zealand helped themselves along thanks to good innings from James Marshall (43) and BJ Watling (34 not out). Amit Mishra, who took six wickets in the first innings, made it nine for the match with figures of 3 for 65 in 22 overs. A sporting declaration left the match intriguingly poised but India's second innings was a disaster. New Zealand international Iain O'Brien struck twice early to leave India 2 for 1, removing the in-form M Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara, promoted to No. 3, for ducks. Bradley Scott, the left-arm medium-pacer, dismissed Sourav Ganguly and Ravindra Jadeja cheaply and India had slipped to 25 for 5. Sahil Kukreja's 31 was the highest score of the innings and when he went in the 46th over the end was near. Nathan McCullum and Aaron Redmond, soon to depart for the senior side in Bangladesh, also picked up two wickets each. After a poor one-day series and defeat in the first Test, New Zealand will leave India on a high.
