If it was so easy having his strike rate on SC pitches many others would also have similar strike rates at 50+ average. It is understandable some people think Sehwag>Lara. One thing I do lol at though is Lara being better than Tendulkar. That's a joke as SRT is miles ahead. 22 years vs 15 years 51 centuries vs 34 55 avg vs 52 SRT much better ODI player. WC winner. SRT clear winner.

Multiple double hundred plus scores along with penchant for big scores all at run a ball or quicker - check 5. Hundreds in SA and Aus - check 6. One of the key players responsible for India reaching the top spot - check 7. Done all this as an OPENER and not lower down the order a la Gilchrist when you are either facing tired bowlers or looking for quick runs - check 8. Average of 35+ in odis at a SR of 105 - check 9. Sehwag's penchant for changing the course of the match like he did against Eng when India had to chase 387 by scoring a 60 ball 80, or in odis like he did against Pakis in WC semi by taking apart Gul and Gul was a non-factor throughout the match after the onslaught - check 10. Someone who changed the role of Test opener and the way game is played at the top as can be seen by NZ moving McCullum to open or watching Aus use Warner as an opener - check If after all this Sehwag is not a great of the game I don't know who is :dontknow:

Dravid & Laxman were able to score on earlier Aus tours as Sehwag gave them the platform to do so else it would have been the same story as 99 Aus tour as we saw last year. Same against Pakis where without Sehwag Indian batsmen hadn't done much against Pakis. Sehwag's arrival on the scene totally changed the dynamics of Ind-Pak games as he simply took apart Paki bowling. Maybe you need to check the Ind-Pak stats with & without Sehwag to get the answer. Sehwag scoring 100s "1000 years ago" - wow that's the 1st time I heard such a rationale for discrediting a player as if Sehwag didn't score those runs & 100s :giggle: Maybe you can say how cr@ppy Tendulkar & Laxman are coz they also scored and contributed to series wins away "1000 of years ago" :haha:

Seeing our homeboy Lara being the 1st ever to make a quadruple century mattered MUCH more than just another stat (1 victory). Who's to say we would have even won. But now. Everytime a player makes 300 and they pull up a table of top scorers......there at the top will read BRIAN LARA. And right to the side will say 'WI'

Inspite of the fact that you did not win the match, WI is happy about it. It's so very opposite in India, where a guy can get flak for even doing something which noone else would ever do (read 100th 100).

I thikn C_G is right sir. This list was compiled in 2005 or so, before the second wind of Sachin. I firmly believe that it's the second coming of Sachin which has really stamped his authority as the GOAT.
