I feel so sorry for Dravid ... Just his face when he dropped that catch off Sharma when Katich was in the 90s ... its like his world was falling apart. He looked so depressed. He needs some time away from the game. Time away from all this stress. Perhaps maybe a few months off will do him good. I would really hate to think that the last game that Rahul Dravid ever played was one where he scored 0, and 3 and dropped a catch. Dravid does not deserve this.

Truly agree. I am confident that Dravid can and will start scoring runs again. Even at the beginning of this series, when he scored that 50 at B'lore, he looked quite good. Unfortunately, somehow, somewhere, something is going terribly wrong for him. Lets get one thing straight here. People go out of form, its natural. How could ever forget those times in 2004-2005, when Ganguly looked absolutely clueless against anything that resembled a cricket ball. He not only didnt score runs, he looked horrible out there in the middle. Same case with Sehwag starting in 2006, extending into 2007. In those times, he looked horrendous, like he had almost forgotten batting. And now, look where these two people are now. Saurav was last year's leading run scorer in tests, while Sehwag holds that honor this year. In a strange way, what could have possibly worked against RD was that unlike Saurav or Sehwag, he was never dropped ( if I may take the liberty to use that term against him). Dravid's battles arent with his waning reflexes or batting skills. They're all still there and will be there for another good 2-3 years. Its just that mentally, he seems to have totally lost it. For him, every innings seem to come too soon, one after another. Its seems like everytime he walks into the middle to bat, he's carrying a ton of mental baggage, from his previous failure. RD needs rest, time away from the game, badly. He's not helping himself or the team's cause by prolonging this further and further. And once his mental cobwebs are cleared we can roll out the red-carpet and welcome him back. And why shouldnt we? Saurav is 37 and this is the THE BEST I've ever seen him bat. And RD is as fit as he's ever before. Go away RD. Have some fun, shed your mental baggage and come back as we all know you; THE GREAT WALL OF INDIA!

If the Dravid is still in Indias plans for the next couple of years , then the selectors should advise him to take some time away from the game and that when he wants to come back, the selectors (form willing) will still be willing to pick him. That would give Dravid some much needed assurance. They shouldn't close the book on Dravid if Dravid still has the passion because he has earnt the right to call it a day when he wants to. The problem is ... every senior in the team is scared of performing badly, because they know it could be curtains for them. For the first time in their careers, they are performing out of fear. On the other hand, a youngster knows that a few failures wont end his career because he knows that he can go back to domestic cricket score runs/ take wickets and the selectors will be willing to pick him again. Its all part of what happens during these transition / phasing out periods.

stupid post. RD may have lost form, but he has been India's best Test batsman (some will say 'second' best) for the last decade. Just becos he is not in form now, you come up with this :haha:
