vadodaravictor Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Linux rulez ! BeOS was probably the best OS I ever used for desktop. Sad that it has to die because of corporate monkey business. I hope Haiku brings BeOS from its grave.
punjabi_khota Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I don't wear a suit, and I am a PC. I am a jackass and I am a PC. I am not a metro sexual, and I am a PC. I don't like Mac ***gotry and HENCE, I am a PC.
punjabi_khota Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 so we got an actuary in the house? No, just someone who has had enough of this debate on OTHER forums (gamedev.net especially!) :((
Holysmoke Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 For the average user, OS X > Ubuntu > Windows.
vadodaravictor Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 For the average user' date=' OS X > Ubuntu > Windows.[/quote'] As someone who has been using Linux on desktop, I would say Ubuntu is over-rated for what it does. There are lot of other distributions out there which are better than Ubuntu. PCLOS, OpenSUSE, Mandriva to name a few.
siddhu Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 for multimedia etc.. i have to say Mac 9/10 +... if you know what you are doing... then pretty much any Linux although i prefer Mandriva Linux.. other wise... Windows
Desi Cartman Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 windows 97 .. LMAO win 97 reminds me of yahoo messenger's first version with voice.. it had a button which u need to click to talk and then release it to listen what the other person is saying .. was like walky-talky

I think Ubuntu has the best chance of adoption among all the linux based OS'es... Canonical is doing a great job.. and with netbooks getting more and more common, ubuntu seems the way to go..atleast now I dont like opensuse...
DomainK Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 In spite of the drawbacks, its Windows XP. I dont like Vista much.
fineleg Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 ^ XP is good if you dont have the hardware to upgrade to Vista since the latter needs a bigger memory, disk etc
