An unknown outfit, Deccan Mujahideen, has sent an email to news organizations claiming that it carried out the Mumbai attacks. Some media reports attributed the attack to Lashkar-e-Taiba. There were also unconfirmed reports that some of the terrorists came in by sea. A boat laden with explosives was recovered later at night off the Gateway of India. no confirmation yet though

A Melbourne man sheltering in a Mumbai restaurant with 10 other Australians says if it had not been for a last-minute change of heart, he would have been dining in one of the restaurants targeted by terrorists. Issac Zalme, from Footscray, said he was now hiding out in another restaurant, which he did not want to name, with about 10 others. He said most of the people around him were in a state of shock. View Larger Map "There's been terrorist attacks all over the city, it's all been co-ordinated and it's all been targeted towards tourists in kind of major populated areas and there's a couple of hotels and a hospital under siege right now and a whole bunch of dead people,'' Mr Zalme told Radio 3AW. "We're pretty lucky being here so I think we're just going to sit put for as long as we can.'' Mr Zalme said he had been on a 20-day trip to India and had been having the best time of his life until the well-coordinated terror attacks. "It's kind of surreal, it's hasn't really sunk in what's going on,'' he said. Another Australian man caught up in the terror attacks in Mumbai is making a desperate bid to escape the Taj Mahal hotel, which has been attacked by gunmen as part of co-ordinated terrorist attacks across the city. Foreign Affairs says at least two Australians have been injured in a series of shootings and blasts .. with about 80 people killed and 250 injured. Steve Smith called the Seven Network from a small room at the back of the Taj Mahal hotel where he's hiding after seeing two gunman toss grenades into the restaurant where he was having a beer just hours earlier. He says after throwing grenades into the restaurant the gunmen opened fire for about ten minutes with AK-47 assault rifles. Mr Smith's interview was cut short so he could be put in contact with Foreign Affairs in the hope they might be able to help him escape
