ISI have their own powers and to some extent not controlled by govt. Pak also had many blasts including marriott. The pak govt are powerless to stop their own terorism let alone attacks abroad. Granted though that years of supprting terrorism and encouraging them has meant the chickens have come home to roost

Unless Indian govt realises this and deals with them directly militarily or otherwise, nothing will change. Threatening Pak govt or strongly worded statements by the PM et al wont do squat.

Secondly proposing a UN resolution to garner support from the permanent members to impose international sanction on Pakistan if they don't conform to UN inspections of areas that are a hot bed of terrorist support. And lastly bend over the Pakistani government backwards to see what counter measures they are ready to implement against terrorist elements in their country. thats a good start.I would also create a new body like the "homeland security" is the US-separate from the home ministry and give them sweeping powers .we need intelligence in pakistan -so that we can atleast heighten the alert at high risk cites.without intelligence there is no way we protect the thousands of soft targets we have.

Somebody said about the number of terror attacks in the US post 9/11, none, that is impressive beyond belief, with US at war with 2 countries. Our Intelligence needs to reach that level asap. Shut down the borders. Cancel all bilateral ties with Pakistan and Bangladesh, trade,sports, economic etc etc. As unfortunate an accident this is, this incident will give India proper leverage at the global level, play the game properly and use the leverage properly. Ban any and all religious organizations, and if anyone belongs to these organizations, the imprisonment should be no less than 7 years period, even if they are just card carrying members. All organizations starting from SIMI to Bajrang Dal. Start cleaning up the constitution, remove any reference to religions and/or castes, restructure the quota system to be based on financial situations, and slowly remove religion and caste from the public view and let it be private. Any politician or party that panders to a particular religion or caste is banned immediately from contesting elections for the next 10 years and the individual permanently and imprisoned. Finally go after these scum, go after them without remorse without mercy. anybody who dares to lift a finger in india shud be relentlessly pursued. IF they are in pakistan or afghanistan, dont stop dont rest, go after the whole organization and kill them all. Create a task force to do this and give the people who are part of this group, whatever they need to accomplish this.

Also throw everysingle bangla illegal immigrant back over the border and dump them in dhaka. Wont happen, as local politicians near bangla border like their votes in our great democracy

It's just a start. Right now what they need more than anything else is confirmation as to sources of these terrorists and where they're getting aid from. I think they've captured at least one of these guys so the info should be available. Obama has already said that he is for a covert/black ops mission into Pakistan if terrorist locations are known and the Pak government isnt ready to take action. Such should be our policy. With a naval blockade it and economic sanctions it further weakens their economy and gives us greater access to small operations to take out Pakistani militant groups there. The US is already fighting a war on two fronts and can't do anything to help or stop us except for providing influence.

We have been blitzed over the last year from terror stikes eg Jaipur etc etc. This is the highest profile strike due to attacking posh people and icon buildings. But in terms of deaths and terrorism we have been soaked with blood this year but now people have woken up. The last year of blitzes have been due to home grown jihadis and I am sure they played a role in this as well. We need to address our home grown jihadis and stop sticking our head in the sand and kidding ourselves that this is soley about pakistan.

Two more things to add that make this different from the usual terror attack - (a) the length of time it has taken to bring the situation under some control. (b) the trapping and killing of top anti-terrorist cops.

Fontaine Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 The arrested militants belong to Lashkar-e-Taiba, they said. If this is confirmed and more information is gathered as to the plans and exact means, then the government has to act. The level of organisation, coordinated attacks, amount of firepower and specific targetting for foreign nationals as well as people of Jewish faith is something that is new in these disgusting terrorist attacks. I really hope the government takes action by initiating a naval blockade to prevent any further militants coming through as well as a heightened alert in the land borders. Then we can coordinate with the UN on further sanctions against Pakistan if they so much as hesitate in full cooperation. Various military commando units with air power reinforcement need to act now and target these terrorist hot beds in Pakistan. Ultimately the responsibility has to lie on the Pakistani government to stop terrorism from spilling outside it's borders and if they are unwilling or hesitant in addressing this crisis then it's time for our government to cease all ties with Pakistan and escalate military operations. And lastly I really hope the various local police, religious leaders and members of government do their utmost to quash any domestic backlash/riots and violence among muslims and hindu citizens. The last thing we need is for the angry public to take matters into their own hands and start lashing out against mosques and such which would only increase this messed up situation.
