From 1994 - 1997 was a dream period in Jamshedpur when Police SP was Mr. Ajay Kumar (may be Luks might remember his period if he was in RIT that time) was in his tenure. He was best thing ever happened to my City and the crime rate was 0 .. not even a single day we heard about robbery or theft or murder or Rape taking place. His policy was simple if a person or any bhailog does crime he would give them notice for a certain period to surrender or his house would be destroyed to rubbles. And he did it, he would personally go to monitor this. In the night he used to do petrolling along with his people. His slogan was"Jamshedpurians Sleep peacefully, I am Awake" Almost all Dons had left Jamshedpur,even the chamchas politician used to fear him. Once i remember he was in his jeep near Jubliee Park, he told a college student who was on his Bike to stop. He gave him his revolver , boy was stunned . He assured him nothing will happen, gave him instruction to pass all the Police Patrolling area and followed him at a distance on a Normal Ambassador car. HE did so and he crossed more than 7-8 patrolling stations and no policeman stopped him except one... So the next morning he gave suspension order to all the policemen on Duty responsible for the patrolling stations in that Aread... So even our Bihar Police were on their toes (for a change). Guess what?? What must have happened to Ajay Kumar ... No prize for guessing we all know the answer... Mr. Lalu who was CM of Bihar (that time Bihar and Jharkhand were one) set of Gangster who had to leave Jamshedpur complained to Lalu that there Rozi roti has gone. And Politician cant exist without his set of Gangsters... So Ajay Sharma was issued a transfer letter. This made him very angry and he knew the reasons for it .So he resigned from his post and Ratan Tata who knows the art of recognizing Gems took him in his Tata Group as one of the Directors... To summarize this in one Sentence : Political Leaders are the biggest Mafias and the root cause of our Demise.

mhr123 Posted November 30, 2008 Author Posted November 30, 2008 People like Ajay Kumar can do wonders for our country ... and surely if Police use there 50% of there power i think more than 80% of crime rate can be reduced .Then only we can avoid these mishaps... but there power is seized by our politicians who wants to run the show and to prove who is the Boss... I remember one Dialouge in a movie .. i think it was Ashutosh Rana .. he said "Hum din raat padh kaar , saakth training lekar , khoon pasina bahakar Police ke wardi pehente hai .. aur iske badle hume milta kiya hai ... ek saade huee , gawaar, corrupt politician ko aate jaate salute maarna...Dikaar hai" <<< he was absolutly right... NSG commander giving protection to Mayati .. dikhaar hai
Lurker Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Yes I definitely remember Ajay Kumar. Brilliant office but more importantly a very dignified person. My personal interaction with him happened right at the time of my admission to RIT. The day I showed up along with my parents at Jamshedpur there was a fight going on between RIT and Cops. RIT used to be pretty lawless in those days and many of the dons would actually pay haftas to students of RIT. I am not sure what was the reason of the fight but the net result was the bridge joing Adityapur to Jamshedpur(the only means of communication between the two areas) was sealed with the two parties on either side. Cops were controlling the part towards Jamshedpur, students that towards Adityapur. No person was being allowed from either side. My parents were obviously shocked to see it, probably more when they realized this is where I would spend rest of the next 4 years, I on the other hand was worried that I would miss out on admission if I arrived late and the fellows in waiting list would take over my spot. So my Dad took me to one of the cops who took us to Ajay Kumar. He put us in a Police vehicle, sat down himself and slowly made his way. What I remember still is the man was battling RIT students on one hand, and never said one bad thing to me who was going to join that very lot. Very dignified man of integrity. Was awesome to see Ratan Tata pick him. Another reason why I appreciate the guy. xxx

chanakya Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 early 90s :D I am from Jamshedpur. The guy was amazing. I remember he hosted the finals of the Wheels Quiz in 1997. Great guy, doctor, IAS he turned Jamshedpur crime on its head.

U could meet him anytime of the day and used to take personal interest in solving cases.. and Sharp Minded once the bhailogs of our Area planned to kill him and involved his driver. He usually crossed the road which was a bit isolated and had lot of trees... the signal was driver had to horn 3 times and they would attack him.As soon as the Driver gave 2 horns his 6th sense told him something was wrong.He took out his pistol and told the driver to take u turn , Driver took U turn they started firing on his car but till then he was already safe... Driver was interogated and spilled out the truth .. all those invovled are now in Hell.. Well we lost a Great SP and still people remember him... Now Jamshedpur condition is bad to worse... Parents tell me, people are getting murdered for 1000-2000 rupees... on 6th i would be going back to JSR...
