Ram Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 thats been bothering me ever since the start of the attack; Why would the terrorists take the circuitous sea-route to come to India? I mean, why would they travel two full weeks in the sea, armed with bags of weapons, only to risk being caught by the Coast Guard? If LeT wanted to attack some locations in India, there are enough sleeper cells deployed in India that could have activated. Or, they could have easily used the oft-used route, which is to infiltrate into Kashmir and then travel into other parts of India. Getting a boat to travel 2 weeks to come into a neighboring country seems a really convoluted way of infiltrating into a country, unless of course our maritime security is so lax and ineffective that it almost guarantees safe passage into our country. Puzzling..
Desi Cartman Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 its was a very big operation and for that they couldn't have risked informing any Indian terrorist organization fearing that the information might get leaked. Firstly, to get into J&K they would have faced bullets then there is a risk of getting caught traveling from J&k to mumbai .. I dont think it would take 2 weeks to travel from karachi to Mumbai .. They could have come by a faster boat till the Indian waters at least
Guest dada_rocks Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Land based sleeper cells go through higher scrutiny...In waters you can sneak in easily by virtue of the simple fact that you always enjoy a safe distance from next fellow traveller in water if you have your persoanl boat. while on land even if you have your own conveyance you still have to run on the same road in close proximity with others and have to go through several checks......
The Outsider Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Most of Kashmir is pretty much impossible to cross anyways by now.
Cricketics Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 two weeks? what you talkin about?????? just like how Lahore and Amritsar are very close to each other, with Wagah border being the divider, same way u can easily reach Mumbai from that sea through the shores of the land in pak in hours or a day or two
