I did say Badri or Vijay shud have played instead of Dravid - and I stand by that as per before match started. but having said that, this is a big occasion for Dravid where he fought the mental battles, and hence deserves the rispikt.
I wonder what does SRT has to do to earn your 'rispikt'. Not that he needs it but more worshippers the merrier

ur mistaken like some others have mistaken it as well. I admire both RD and SRT - just that RD gets a lot less appreciation from junta when compared to the OTT celebrations that is reserved for SRT - hence i call out to compensate and balance it out. But me personally, I like them both (again, despite what some icf-ers may think). Infact I have higher expectation from SRT because of his higher skill level and hence I get more easily frustrated when SRT gives it away.

no, just prefer it to more realistically portrayed - rather than go all hype and over-the-top worshipping anyone (not even dravid, not srt, not AK, not Viru) They are all good players - not God or the single biggest inspiration from India or out of the world magicians. all good players but they give us the fair share of disappointment and frustration on occassion, and give a great performance on another occasion. Nothing more , nothing less This - they are "the source of hope and inspiration" and "model" for youth thingy is OTT I just like to keep it more realistic Anyway - Deviating from the dravid century thread - so kthxbai

Understood but often, your "un-overthetopworshipping" seems very very pessimistic.

When a middle-class man looks upon Tendulkar to succeed in life (be it anything), he is realistic when he says tendulkar is his icon/role model/idol. When SRT fans are over the moon over his performance, they too are realistic because of the fact that SRT still manages to oblige his fans/team at this 'old' age. What is unrealistic about it ?

You arent a youth, what would you know? Next time talk to an average young Indian, and you'll realize what an inspiration he is to us. On second thoughts, you wont. He'll tell you SRT's been a massive influence, and you'll call him a worshipper.:haha: Convenient :hysterical: How does one reason against stupidity? Its like arguing against Zaid Hamid :wall: PS- SRT has been the single biggest inspiration to me outside of my family and a couple of teachers.

fineleg already admitted in an earlier post that he/she overhypes Dravid here just to counter the (incorrect) perception of SRT being overhyped. Hence I'd take anything fineleg says about Dravid with a few buckets of salt.

no need for buckets, grain is sufficient :winky:

inspiration to do what?
To do whatever. When the odds are against it, when you're down and out. I've been through some tough times, and SRT has always been an inspiration, and always brought a smile to my face. I dont want to go into details, because its kind of personal....

Lmao, yes we are all children and u r so smart that u can sell any bs. Anyway, that explains all the constant whining no matter what srt does, all the injury wish, abuse, and lack of all that in case of rsd's even worse slump. At least you are not alone in that non-worshiper club. All your objectivity is really something so special that it needs its own olympics.

Exactly. I know what your talking about...you get energy from even a shot he's played, or maybe from a special knock. I get the same type of energy from two people..Tendulkar and Michael Jordan

Good job Dravid. He looks certain for the next couple of series atleast. Why no respect for Dada though? When he was going through a rough patch, not even one person from the team or media - Dravid inclusive - were supportive of Ganguly. He was thrown out of the team unceremoniously and had to go back to Domestic cricket. Did anyone take note of Dhoni's pre match press session and then also during the toss. He was backing Dravid so much. Why RD never showed that kind of respect or support for Ganguly? He quitely slid himself behind Greg Chappel and allowed Chappel to take Ganguly for a ride? As a captain, why dint he stand up for Ganguly's cause? RD as a batsman is great. I wish he plays for another 2-3 years and retire when he thinks is right. he deserves that and I have no problems with that. So was Ganguly. He too felt that he still has a year or two left in him but he was forced into retirement... Atleast retirement was made to look like voluntary. Whereas his droppings in the 2005-06 were uncalled for. One of the argument for not dropping Dravid after Chennai is that he is past the time to go back to domestics and make a come back. Why isnt that thecase with Dada as well. What did he do to deserve such a thing? He was a good, strong and brash captain. Was that his mistake? He backed his players - players like Yuvi, Sehwag and Bajji and at times Dravid as well. But, when he required backing, there was none. And yet Even after retirement, Dada goes on to back Dravid in his newspaper column saying he'll come good during the England series. IMHO - Ganguly is the most misunderstood personality in Indian cricket and he wasnt treated well at all.
