http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12123_4675852,00.html The on-going talks over the IPL appear to be nearing a resolution amid reports that part of the lucrative Twenty20 tournament could be staged in England. The England and Wales Cricket Board have confirmed they are to hold detailed talks with the Board of Control for Cricket in India in January over the issue. The move comes after ECB chairman Giles Clarke and chief executive David Collier met their BCCI counterparts in Mohali to talk about future series between the two countries and England players' availability for next year's tournament - which is being staged between 10th April and 29th May. An ECB statement confirmed: "The ECB has held further discussions with the BCCI during the Test Match in Mohali, which include both the future tours programme and also Twenty20 cricket. "As a result of these meetings, it has been agreed that detailed discussions concerning future programmes will be scheduled for January. Progress "The ECB wishes to put on record its appreciation for the comprehensive and excellent arrangements made by the BCCI in both Chennai and Mohali, and welcomes the progress made during the talks in Mohali in areas of mutual interest." In a new twist, India's Sunday Times newspaper has revealed that part of the IPL could be held in England to broaden its world appeal. Reports suggest the tournament could begin in India before moving to England for three weeks before returning to India for the final matches, by which time the first Test against West Indies at Lord's will have started on 6th May. The ECB have insisted they will not make any further comment until the talks are concluded, but the suggestion the IPL may move some of its fixtures to England could provide a compromise to the problem of giving England players the opportunity to feature in it without risking burn-out in an Ashes summer. The ECB have previously stated they would allow their leading players up to two weeks to play in the IPL, but if the tournament moved to home soil it may give them longer to participate as a warm-up for the ICC World Twenty20 tournament, starting on 5th June. Both England captain Kevin Pietersen and all-rounder Andrew Flintoff are expected to be in big demand when the next player auction begins in February - and both have expressed an interest in taking part in the event. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What bullhsit is this? Its the INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE. I dont mind teams going to play friendlies but proper matches should be played in India. I really dont want KP and Frederick if this is gonna happen.
