DomainK Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I buy microwave popcorn which comes directly packed in a paper pack.....buttered and salted. I guess you need to butter and salt the corns to taste, seal them airtight in a paper bag, put them in the microwave. Set it for about five minutes. Stand and hear them start popping in about two minutes. As they pop, they will make audible sounds against the paper. As the popping sounds slow down, you will come to know. Stop the microwave. Try it 3/4 times and you will get a hang of how much salt and butter to use and how long to time the microwave. Note: Make sure that the paper bag is airtight. The air inside the paper bag will expand as the MW works. The air should not escape.

beetle Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 We get both kinds in India...... 1)You cook it in a vessel covered with a lid. 2)You cook it in the bag that comes with the popcorn. The second one is three times the price of the first one.....:--D Sandeep,....ek bada paper bag le...woh white type that feels like butter paper. usme masala aur oil/butter daal. Olive oil hai ti dal nahi to normal veg oil bhi chalega, but butter tastes better. Bag ka top seal kar...leave enough space for corn to pop . Ya phir bada sa lid microwave bartan le...dhakkan wala...usme bana.

beetle Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I think it should be ok.Once I got samosa in a paper bag...and being lazy that I am...I just put it in the microwave. When I took it out...the paper was a bit burnt. Why don't you make it in a kadai or cooker(without the whistle)? Just put the lid on and shake it a bit from time to time.I guess it should be ok without oil too...but you will have to eat it hot right off the stove.
Holysmoke Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 just put all the kernels in a glass bowl, cover with a plate, but not fully, so that there is ventilation, and put it in the microwave. You might want to add a little oil, along with haldi, salt, red chilli powder... I've done this many times..

theguyinallblue Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 Are you on some popcorn diet sandeep? i am going for it... WInter season has increased my hunger many folds.... and i am eating a lot of veggys and rotis..and this has upset all my exercise and other things which i did in last 3-4 months... i am back to square one..... i like popcorns.... and i recently bought a packet of Kernels ... i am not talking about ACT II ..just raw bhutte ke daane... since popcorns are very low in calorie and might help in suppressing my hunger...thats why i am thinking of making popcorns at home....which i can make any time of the day ... can i cook bhutte ke daane in pressure cooker just like we cook ACT II popcorns in pressure cooker???? Olive oil bhi daal sakta hun....agar iske bina nahi ban sakega to... Mere Paas Glass bowl nahi hoga...Microwave safe plastic wares hain....
