SachDan Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Cmon guys..those of you showing a blind eye to this thread are the ones who were criticizing MSD's ultra cautious approach..come out in open and justify your rather uncalled for comments :--D
Guest dada_rocks Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 DHONI had two options (1) to go wild and that meant either out cheaply and india folding at 330 or good strike rate thereby propelling india to 400 (2) be little circumspect and insure 360 Dhoni chose later
Kohum Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 From what I can gather , there are a lot members on this forum who are not happy with the way M played today. I mean if only he had balls to risk his wickets and expose tailenders and probably finish with 325 .. he instead chose to play in a sensible way and gave support to Y pathan who was slogging. I think M deserves to be sacked for not having guts to attack and risk his wicket .. WTH we ended up with only 363 to defend .. Stupid M .. he deserves to be banned :protest::protest::protest::protest::protest::protest::protest::protest: :protest::protest::protest::protest::protest::protest::protest::protest: ^^^^ account hacked !!! :--D
Dark Warrior Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 i think we should make Balaji our captain. He's the best captain India have ever produced. Balaaaaaaaaa rox  :winky:
Dark Warrior Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 we need PCB to provide us with their expert advise .. after all they groomed world beaters like Malik :haha:
King Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Too much outcry to drop him but Dhoni has become India's very own Bevan. Capable of winning games but of late he seems to play not to get out or take any risks. At the end of the day he will have a fat average and decent strike rate. I suppose he should take a look at his approach and as he criticized the bowlers last game he should be critical of himself.

bunny Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 filtered 2004-2009 103 90 24 2607 139* 39.50 3054 85.36 1 15 4 184 51 filtered 1996-2007 103 86 22 2802 104 43.78 3728 75.16 2 23 2 207 19 The first row is Dhoni's achievements at #5 or later and the second is RD's achievements at #5 or further dwn. See any similarity? MSD at #5 plays almost like RD. The only difference is that he is a bit better strike rotator, and can tonk the spinners more easily (indicated by the number of sixes). Both have amazing concentration powers just like Bevan did, to make sure that they don't throw their wicket away and keep playing sensibly. But, even MSD struggles to hit good length fast deliveries just like RD did. Actually ODIs are decided by the top 4 players, the players coming later need to just be a mixture of slogger types (Pathan/Robin Singh) and strike rotation types (MSD/RD).

Lord Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 i know it is all fun,but dhoni's approach had to be questioned.he is supposed to be no.1 batsman n least u could expect was run a ball.he was well short of that.if not for Yuppo's histrionics we would have made only 325ish. dhoni got ganguly sacked wen he scored slow in that nagpur ODI game v aus.now he himself is batting that way.he seems to have lost that old touch.
Fontaine Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 dhoni got ganguly sacked wen he scored slow in that nagpur ODI game v aus.now he himself is batting that way.he seems to have lost that old touch. Ganguly got sacked because he was an old fossil who couldn't run between the wickets and was a joke with his half ***** fielding.
Lord Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Ganguly got sacked because he was an old fossil who couldn't run between the wickets and was a joke with his half ***** fielding. yeah but he was always like that, why do u think he played 300 ODIS? because he was a fantastic batsman? was also in gr8 form at that time.suddenly selectors realise he is a bad fielder n drop him?
graphic23 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Now, I don't think anyone will get picked if they cannot field properly. So your argument doesn't hold nor does your comparison. Can you even believe yourself? Comparing Dhoni, our quickest between wickets to Ganguly, our slowest wickets. They came in 2 different conditions btw. There, we were chasing, here we were setting the score.

cochise Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Now, I don't think anyone will get picked if they cannot field properly. Munaf?
Fontaine Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 yeah but he was always like that' date='why do u think he played 300 ODIS? because he was a fantastic batsman? was also in gr8 form at that time.suddenly selectors realise he is a bad fielder n drop him?[/quote'] No, but the standards of cricket not just in India but around the world were raised so it meant an old player had to hit the road.
Lord Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Munaf? :haha:i hope they discard munaf once n for all now.dunno why is he playing wen we have so many options.he is a highly overrated cricketer.breaks down too many times.lousy fielder.hopeless bat.no commitment whatsover.at his best he is just a line n length bowler at military medium pace whch any decent batsman can get thru.needs the batsman to take chances for his wickets.almost two players since he played his first game n he has never run thru a batting lineup.
Fontaine Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 but 35 off 45 in slog overs wen a youngster blasted 59 off 38 balls?dhoni is in the form of his life n he also needs to hit 4s n 6s wen required' date='not leave it to others[/quote'] That's pretty much where you're wrong. Pathan's job was to slog, he's not in the team because he can rotate the strike. Dhoni's job was to protect our tail against Mendis and Murali who still had plenty of overs left to go. Dhoni pretty much laid that out as the game plan after the first match on how to handle M & M.
