Is there any Bus or Shuttle to visit NASA Johnson Space center? (starting from in or around downtown Houston)...this will be a Sunday - so that probably makes it harder to find general transportation?

They have the original control room of the Apollo mission preserved and plus a lot of stuff that was never launched/used...etc etc I went in as a member of conference attendees at a aerospace/astrodynamics conference, and so everyone in the group was expert in the field. Our tour guide did not have any idea about that, and started explaining us stuff in layman's terms and was PWNED badly by the group. :hysterical: :hysterical: He learnt a lot during those 2 hours I guess.

Heads up on the Johnson Space center, there is really little of much substance to see there. There is a gallery at the entrace which is well, for kindergarten kids, and they show you around the place, but that is not all that much fun since the only interesting place you visit is the control room of the Apollo missions. Believe it or not, they drive you past a building and all they mention is: "this is where they design the food of the astronauts... or this is a EM silent chamber used for testing antenna gains..." no big phallic rockets, no eye candy, and burning hot.

Wrong! there is actually a whole 3 stage rocket in another building inside the space center. I cannot recall the name right now, but it was set to to be launched sometime in last 10 years but could not because of budget reasons. It is an awesome experience to see it there lying with all the parts visible...about 40 meters long.. Also, there is a real life size space station model there, where the astronauts who go the space station are given training handling the robotic arms etc etc...exactly designed as the space station

I concur with that. Did not enjoy it at all. In Houston here are my favorite time-spends, in no particular order. a) Galveston beach. b) Catch movie at Cinema 6 c) Dinner at Mayuri. d) Downtown area around Chase Tower. e) Hillcroft Avenue/Rd/area. Houston is quite a fun place actually.
