Dhoni to undergo fitness test on Wednesday Agencies Posted: Mar 30, 2009 at 1319 hrs IST Napier: India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who skipped the second Test against New Zealand with a back injury, will undergo a fitness Test on Wednesday to assess his chances of playing the third and final match in Wellington. Virender Sehwag, who led here in Dhoni's absence, could not confirm Dhoni's participation in the final Test starting on Friday and said, "I don't know. I don't know yet but he (Dhoni) will give his fitness on Wednesday." Dhoni took part in the team practice ahead of the second Test before pulling out due to the injury and Sehwag, though tipped off the previous night, was asked to lead the side barely hours before the toss took place. Shane
Probable Changes for the Final Test Changes for the Third Test Other than the obvious one, i would like to see Dhawal Kulkarni in place of McPatel Link to comment
umpire
if wicket is flat, play Mishra ahead of Munaf. Link to comment
cowboysfan
wellington-munna bhai will get one more go. Link to comment
spectre
No changes, go with the same team and annihilate NZL on a side note, NZL players may not have played Balaji before, so it would be a good suprise ...who knows, he may pick up a few wickets --------------- oopsie...forgot our captain marvel...well thats an obvious choice Link to comment
bunny
Murali Vijay in place of Yuvraj... Link to comment
Show_stopper
Mishra for Bhajji imo. If the wicket is flat play 2 spinners and 2 pacers. Link to comment
bharat297
Id pick Balaji over Munaf ... just adds an extra element to our pace attack with his movement away from the right hander. Other than that, Id go with the same side. Link to comment
Rajan
in the great tradition of left hand batsmen who regularly torment indian bowling, Clive Llyod, Jimmy Adams,Sanath Jayasurya, Saeed Anwar,Matt Hayden, Chanderpaul, Gary Kirsten, Andy Flower, Chris Gayle, we now have Jesse Ryder hurting us badly. for all my money, he is not in the same class of the others as of now but continues to heap misery on our bowling. he has a good hand-eye co ordination and packs a punch in his shots. But he is not technically sound, he can be sorted out if v have a dependable first change seamer. unfortunately he seems to be a literally huge hurdle for us. the team management has to sort the issue of getting him out cheaply, twice in the 3rd test.there has been negligible reverse swing in this series, can that be worked upon by Zak to get an edge.apart from praying for winning the crucial toss, the bowling coach and video analyst have to plan for strategies.by the time the top order gets out, Zak and Ishant would tire and a brilliant effort is needed by the 3rd seamer to continue the pressure and get break through. cochise
Ishant should go around the wicket to Jessie Ryder cramping him, seaming into and away from him. He will be sorted out. Link to comment
Rajan
Going in to 3rd test with out Dhoni, losing the toss, batting first, Sehwag as skipper, Dinesh Karthik as keeper, OMG, i will have heart attack on the final test! I wish Dhoni comes back. if he is not fit, BCCI shud send Parthiv Patel. he is as good as specialist batsman. we would not have followed on if he had been in the team. as far as dropping catches, he is no worse than Dinesh Karthik. Sachinism
Dravid should keep, he'd do the same job as Parthiv or KKD and he's a better bat and then we could include another specialist batsman But I'd rather just have Dhoni back Link to comment
dial_100
I thought you all will be excited to have Dhoni baba back.... Well ... KKD has some big fan following here... it seems :hmmm: Link to comment

DomainK
Apart from Dhoni for Karthik, only one change: we will win this time. All other changes are immaterial. Link to comment
diegovegaz
Ind vs ZA, 3rd test : Buildup amit mishra deserves a game on the tour munaf has done a decent job but, i believe there is always something happening with a leg spinner even the kiwis played 2 spinners, why should we go with 1, we have better spin reserves and we ought to prove it Link to comment
diegovegaz
dhoni must play if we want to make it 2-0 Link to comment
Holysmoke
He's taking rest before the IPL:giggle: Link to comment
suraj
Hope he plays- it will be a big plus better wkt keeping, better batting and better captaincy Viru should never be let close to leadership again- let him focus on chauke chakke waise what the heck Dhoni was doing that led to this injury?? His injury seems very hush hush- makes me think he was upto some antics (maybe too much sex?) Link to comment
fineleg
Please no Dinesh Karthik for Test-3 :omg: Dravid, Laxman, Murali Vijay (incl. as additional batsman in place of KKD) can take turns keeping! :eyedance: But, no KKD - he just drops catches anyway and cannot bat also! Even Parthiv Patel (gasp) or someone else should be flown in as keeper from India! Say no to KKD! Link to comment
