Gambit
Yes he had a great tour of OZ and did reasonably well against them in the home series but it seems he's been found out. I was watching a few highlights of the recent T20s and OZ have been targetting his rib cage area as he seems to have a serious problem with the short ball. He was getting into a very ugly position when faced with the short ball and was having serious trouble negotiating it. The short ball problem effectively ended Bevan's test career. Will it have the same impact on Duminy's? Link to comment
EnterTheVoid
Bevan sucked in tests JP was the reason S.A. won the MCG test So, NO Link to comment
Gambit
Bevan sucked in tests JP was the reason S.A. won the MCG test So, NO Umm, Bevan had a good start to his test career just like Duminy. Then he came face to face with the short ball. That was game over. Duminy did well in OZ. Then alrightish in RSA(35) after being subjected to the short ball and looked completely at sea. Now let's see what happens in the ensuing test series. If he doesn't learn how to sway out of the way, or start pulling/hooking with precision or taking body blows, he will go the Bevan route. PS - Bevan even took a 10fer in a win. Link to comment
Sachinism
I think Duminy will improve as time goes by Link to comment
bunny
No way...lefties have too much of a natural advantage and Duminy is better than lots of players who are succeeding and have huge trouble against short pitch bowling. Link to comment
satishg
Duminy will improve as he plays..he looks like a natural talent to me, better than Bevan TBH..lets see Link to comment
umpire
he did scored 70 not out in Durban on bouciest wickets where they were bowling to him in rib cage. Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
No. JPD's flaw isn't as pronounced as Bevan's, and even otherwise, there aren't enough high quality pace bowlers or pacy pitches around the world to test Duminy with the short ball. Bevan had worse to deal with. Link to comment
Pak_Forever
Very talented indeed. So far he seems promising, only future will tell. Link to comment
