I completely sympathize and would like to see mass protests against the CBI decision to completely disregard the nanavati commission report, where it said that 'tytler' had most probably committed genocide. Even if there wasn't enough evidence to convict him, he should have been ostracized for the overwhelming weight of circumstantial evidence against him. Instead he was given a ticket to contest LS repeatedly. Ridiculous, and reminds me of the OJ monkey-trial except this time the govt's involved and the consequences are much more grave. There is a small snippet from a defense reporter that I really admire, Shiv Aroor, from his blog, www.livefist.blogspot.com I have known Jarnail Singh for almost five years now. After five years of covering the same beat, and being co-travellers both within the country and abroad, I count him as a personal friend, who I've come to know quite well. Scrupulously upright and with a no-nonsense morality, Jarnail has always been a quiet questioner. Never aggressive, but constantly, relentlessly questioning, as any good journalist should. For the time that I have known him, his impulse has never been to show hostility -- certainly not of the kind that he showed this morning. It is for that reason alone that I imagine that Jarnail's decision to lob his footwear at the Union Home Minister was a shivering manifestation of a quarter century of naked outrage felt by an entire community, and many others besides. I have never had the chance to discuss the 1984 riots with Jarnail, but he's a Sikh who has lived his life in Delhi. Over the last 15 years that he has been a journalist, he is likely to have witnessed first hand the phenomenally shameful conduct of the Congress Party, which believes that all was forgiven following Sonia Gandhi's apology, in itself a poll gimmick. I've been thinking about Jarnail's action all day. In the afternoon, when I sent Jarnail a text message inquiring after his condition (he had been detained by the police), he replied that as a journalist, he shouldn't have done what he did. Fair. But there's still no denying that there has been almost no real outlet for the absolutely colossal sense of outrage that Sikhs in the country, especially Delhi, have felt over the CBI's recommendation that Jagdish Tytler be cleared of all charges. The party even has the nerve to serve up a ticket year after year to Sajjan Kumar -- since the thug wins invariably, to hell with moral perceptions. As a journalist, imagine Jarnail's position. And the questions. Was the shoe-throwing pre-meditated, or did Jarnail truly snap in the face of Chidambaram's signature arrogance. As a journalist, has he violated the sacred line that divides witnessing and affecting. Journalists are constantly accused of being bloodless, heartless drones buzzing between one story and the next. So did Jarnail break the cardinal rule of reporting, which is to report not from your point of view, but from nobody's point of view? Jarnail himself thinks he did, so nobody else's opinion really matters. But he is firm that his motivations were not incorrect or immoral, and nobody can take that away from him. While much of the media -- and of course, the political parties -- "condemn" Jarnail's action as improper and inappropriate, they conveniently gloss over the reasons for why this normally tranquil gentleman chose to throw caution to the wind, and put his career and future in clear jeopardy by lobbing a sneaker at the Home Minister. That's the question the Congress Party should think about. Everything else is just, well, footwear.

He did not want to hit Chidambaram .. he just said I protest and threw as a sign of protest What Jarnail Singh was completely wrong for sure .. no reporter should have done that but Jarnail has apologized several times for it But at the same time I would never support a ticket being given to Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar .. if the whole of Punjab and the whole Sikh community is against Tytler and Kumar then I am sure they must not be saints.. and I do not want to see any tainted politicians at all .. at least dont give them a ticket till the court gives its verdict :headshake:

I'm from the Sikh religion myself and in my opinion,the idea of Khalistan can go and:finger: itself...and basically,Khalistan was pakistans revenge for 1971,which,like pakistan,failed.

All till 2004.then i came to know about his son Karthik's collusion with Income tax department and his way of conducting IT raids at the businesses/ persons' residences, who did not sell out their flourishing business to him.He could not have done this with out PC's blessings. Karthik chidambaram had inside info on many govt.policy announcements and started trading in equities and made huge money based on the information.again, PC shud have been the source. So much for PC and decency. we should respect a person based on his principles and performance in public life, not based on how he dresses or acts in public. ================================================ What happened in 1984 is one of the biggest tragedies and black mark in the history of Independent india. the very fabric of our unity and respect for each religion was torn to shreds then. come to think of it, I feel, if the perpetrators of the crimes in 1984 were convicted and punished severely, the political class would have been wary of leading the Gujarat killings. in that context i think, 1984 has set a bad precedent. now, dont tell me that PC does not control the CBI or the Govt. does not exert influence on the investigating agency/officers. it is an open and shut case. tytler and sajjan kumar are killers.they should be brought to justice.in fact shud have been awarded death penalty 20 years back.In my humble opinion, the clean chit by the court, based on the feeble effort of CBI has hurt the sikh community as much as the 1984 killings. I have nothing against PC but just consider urself as an ordinary law abiding citizen of the country-a middle class sardar who had witnessed/heard the mass murders that were committed by Goons instigated and lead by Tytler and Sajjan kumar among others. after 25 years of absolutely partisan investigation and trial , if the goons are let off for lack of evidence, would not you be frustrated with the judicial process/government-Home ministry controlling CBI? there is a breaking point for every person. the journalist's breaking point was PC's remark that as a congressman he was happy for Tytler. to be frank as a congressman and as home minister he shud have resigned. what use is a post of a union cabinet minister,if ur CBI is not able to get justice for the innocent victims , 25 years back? If that journalist had not thrown that shoe symbolically, even this debate/discussion would not have been possible in the media and our middle class would have forgotten the 1984 killings. the younger generation wud not even be aware that such a despicable incident ever occurred in our history. compared with the pain of Sikh community suffered, what PC had experienced is nothing.if he has any self respect left, he shud dissuade congress from renominating Tytler and Sajjan kumar. Pakistan- as a nation- we got what we deserved in 1971. Khalistan was more a measure to securing the Kashmiri valley I guess
