Bumper Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 60 runs to get, 8 wickets in hand, the guy bowls part timers with spread field :wall: But he does seem to pass the checklist for a great captain: 1) Choke against all big opponents --> CHECK 2) Bash the minnows --> CHECK 3) Clueless bowling changes --> CHECK 4) Better defend than attack --> CHECK 5) Good interviews --> CHECK
Dirty_South Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain :hic:
Gambit Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain SL being shown their true aukaat.
Bumper Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain I cant believe the hype that surrounds Mahela's captaincy. WTF has he done noteworthy ?
yoda Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain 2) Bash the minnows --> CHECK Now, that's a low blow. :lmao:
dial_100 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain I cant believe the hype that surrounds Mahela's captaincy. WTF has he done noteworthy ? exactly. he is just an ordinary captain like many out there.
kumble_rocks Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain Good to see posters acknowledge India as a minnow team.
kabira Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain right now he should bowl out Murli..instead he has Jayasuriya bowling..its known fact the Kemp struggles against quality spin...
DesiChap Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain He is saving Murali for the next game
DesiChap Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain Kemp gone stumped off Jayasurya
kabira Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain still he persists with Jayasuriya...bring Murli...bowl Malinga and Murli in tandem..thats their only chance..taking wickets..
Holysmoke Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain for those who think jaya isnt a good captain, just compare this team to that which lost to India in 2005
Bumper Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain Am so glad SL lost. I cant stand the hype around Mahela Jayawardane's captaincy. What a retarded door knob. If only he had brought Malinga & Murali earlier on, instead of letting the Saffies milk the bowling at will
yoda Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain Bumper, he almost defended 209. What did we do with 190 against a lesser opponent?
Bumper Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain Who defended 209 ? Mahela ? 4 wickets in 4 balls made it look so close. At the 45 over mark, SA were 206/5, needing 5 runs to win. The pressure should have been applied when SA needed 80 runs to win, not in the last 5 overs. IMO, Mahela's blunder cost them this win.

I think he is better than Dravid.
DesiChap Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain I do not think he is any better than Dravid. He was just plain lucky there thanks the some awesome bowling by the blonde chucker.
gator Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Re: Mahela Jayawardane is a great captain If Dravid had a malinga and a licensed chucker like Murali, he would have looked brilliant.... this guy is on the offence so much, and he doesnt have the bowlers to back it up..... on the other hand, Jayawardane wouldnt last a minute with indian bowlers...
