source? and as much as i can imagine' date=' based on the philosophy he adheres to, he might have suggested a deescalation of troops from kashmir so that pakistan may redeploy. not that absurd a suggestion since the situation in kashmir was improving, thought it was possibly in response to the draconian military presence.[/quote'] Look up my earlier post in the thread for a source. And revisit last months news on the renewed infiltration into Kashmir, how several jawans lost their lives fighting them. In this situation it is absurd to think of a de-escalation from the border. It is not as if the entire pakistani army is standing at our borders. If they wanted to stop the Taliban they can very well do so but we all know that the Taliban has been nurtured by pakistani ISI and army. India should NEVER fall into the trap of allowing the hyphenation of the Kashmir issue with the Taliban.

I would not go with blind worship of Fareed Zakariya.> BTW he has got genes for sure his father ripped Jinnah a hole .. he was one of the very few who actually called Jinnah's bluff. Guys give him some benefit of doubt after all he is an american thinker so his views will have to out america first nothing wrong with that.. Waise ripping Pakistan apart is not that dificult anyone with fascination for simple logic can do that

I suppose thats one way of making a policy. Another way of looking at the same situation is thus. Pakistan has a large percentage of its Army amassed on Indian border. The rationale given is to avoid an Indian attack, which does not make sense for two reasons: a) Unlike India, Pakistan does not have a no-first attack Nuclear policy. So if India does attack they can always launch Nuclear weapons even if India does not. b) India has not done inflitration on Pakistan's side, atleast not even remotely to the extent Pakistan does. The record is not even remotely comparable. So an average Pakistani sipahi sits on his side of the border, enjoys a paid picnic and once a week would do some cover firing to push in infiltrators. Compare this to Indian soldier who has to be on his toe every day and defend himself against both terrorists and Pakistani Army. To compound the problem Pakistani Army would do nothing to defend against Taliban simply because if Taliban makes further inroads Pakistani Army gets an excuse to take over the country, something they have done for 3/4 of Pakistan's existence. So again, how exactly does this policy help India?? It drains us of resources, it affects our soldiers and has been bleeding us for decades now. And try hard as we may Pakistan does not listen to us. Heck they do not even listen to their own President! This is where diplomacy comes in. We deal with US. We suggest pulling out some troops, what can we get in return? Maybe some sophisticated weapons that can man our borders? Maybe some backdoor negotiations on exact status of Pakistan's Nuclear arsenal (something that should interest us more than the Americans) etc etc. Of course these are all my guesses, I dont work in South Block after all. But to quell Taliban fears we have to make Pakistani Army run out of excuses. Turns out thats the only way they work. xxx
