Zee TV announces parallel cricket league

Re: Zee TV announces parallel cricket league  People scoffed at kerry Packer too when he started his cricket circus due to the similar reasons like Zee. Boy, that experiment turned out to be a big hit. Some of his innovation paved way for white ball , color clothing, colored gears etc in ODI in my opinion. So , let's see what this experiment is gonna bring.

Re: Zee TV announces parallel cricket league

I don't think bcci owns most of the stadiums..don't they lease from the states?
The finer points of ICL: - 6 teams or clubs to play in the opening year - Talks on with BCCI for gaining access to stadiums - Executive Board of the league under installation - Pool of referees and umpires to be created - Rules committee to form regulations for ICL - Ombudsman to look into grievances of players - League to begin with Twenty20 format and move to ODI format - League to be a joint venture between Essel Group and ILFS Group - Each team to have a mentor, media manager, psychologist, physio - Prize money for the winner- US$ 1 million - League teams to compete with teams internationally - Number of teams to be increased from 6 to 16 in three years ? Re: Zee TV announces parallel cricket league

BCCI never gonna give them access to the stadiums....
its all on states mayte, not bcci... if such league takes place, then it will be good chance for sick corrupted boards like DDCA, to get hold of some games in their stadium, which rarely gets int'l game these days.

Re: Zee TV announces parallel cricket league

I am sure the BCCI would prevent contracted players from playing in that league.
Players contracted to BCCI will not be able to play in it. But its good. Players have been theatened by BCCI that new contracts will be given to only 5-6 players. At least more people will have to be secured by BCCI here.

Re: Zee TV announces parallel cricket league  Stadiums might be owned by states but given the deep rooted politics and the role that states play in electing the BCCI officials it is one and the same thing. In the current regime, West Bengal might rebel and let their stadiums be used by Zee though.

Re: Zee TV announces parallel cricket league  u guys didnt read the finer points.. its on cricinfo.. here are some shocking/confusing/weird points --Talks on with BCCI for gaining access to stadiums --Each team to have a mentor, media manager, psychologist, physio --- League teams to compete with teams internationally so theres gonna be a new position.. one of a "mentor"... thats basically some former great who wants to go with the teams to hotels to eat butter chicken.... teams to compete with teams internationally... hmm... is this what pawar meant by india blue.. and india seniors.. maybe...

Re: Zee TV announces parallel cricket league  They will need the support of BCCI to implement this (stadium, infrastructure etc). Thats why they call this complementary, tho, the underlying intention is to split the monopoly on the loot. If Zee is reasonably successful in this venture they can get overseas ex-stars (Mark Waugh, Graeme Hick, Stuart Law etc) to play in these clubs. Also they can keep BCCI more honest & accountable. But the million dollar qn is: Will the BCCI help nurture a parallel cricket league ?

Re: Zee TV announces parallel cricket league  Most of the time, When BCCI president and others are elected, its never clear majority.. Those state board who did not vote for president will support Zee to make more money themselves by giving access to stadium and infrastructure..

Re: Zee TV announces parallel cricket league

Are stadiums state owned or private? :chin:
State.
Then how can BCCI monopolise? Bluntly speaking, whoever doles out more cash to the state (read private coffers of the politicians in power)gets access to it. It will probably lead to cut-throat competition between BCCI and Zee for the existing cricket stadiums/infrastructure. But both are so loaded that might start building their $sh!t!!
