He never claimed that he was anything other than human. If people thought he was God, its none of his fault. Just 3 100s? How many players in the world hit more than 3 hundreds in 30 ODIs?

Wednesday, April 4, 2007 (New Delhi) Greg Chappell on Wednesday resigned as coach of the Indian cricket team. He sent an email to this effect to Prof Ratnakar Shetty, chief administrative officer of the BCCI in Mumbai. His resignation comes days after he had lashed out at senior players in the side for acting like a mafia and undermining the presence of Rahul Dravid. He had, however, at that time stated that he would not resign from his post. Senior players, including Sachin Tendulkar, had been unhappy with Chappell's criticism. Chappell said he had quit due to family and personal reasons. Chappell's contract was to run till the end of the World Cup. His tenure as the coach of Team India ran for a period of 22 months. He had taken over from John Wright in May 2005. The BCCI has said it was unaware that Chappell had resigned as coach.

Re: GREG CHAPPEL RESIGNS stop supporting SRT blindly. How do we know that lot of these unconfirmed reports were truly originating from Chappell + was there any truth to these that SRT decided to pre-empt the board meeting and spoke out. I think its the players fault for the poor performance but given all the news and SRT outbursts Chappell figured that there was no way he was going to stay as a coach and hence resigned. Its sad but at least now that he is free of the coachign responsibility hopefully he can name names and give an honest view of what ails Indian cricket and how it can be fixed. This makes his report on the 6th more valuable than before.
