Thnx nospam' date=' MSD looked real mad, I dont really know the recent history between MSD and the media, but it looks like some previous incident instigated this, i guess i'll get a fair idea in this thread[/quote'] He's never cared much for the media and he just takes the bull(shimit) by the horns.

About time someone did that, btw is it mandatory every time the captain should attend these Press conferences, what about the manager or the coach attending it, esp in a major tournament like the WC, like they have in Football and all the attention and the pressure can be all diverted towards them.

Dunno the technicalities' date=' I guess the coach can also represent (at least according to ICC as Pak did it)[/quote'] It will be a good start if players stop attending the Press Conferences, unless of course they wish to do so, its undue pressure by elements who aren't directly involved with the game.

Indian Media is trying to make up all masala stories nowadays.. Dhoni did the right thing for sure.. I hate when they try to piss off others and even bring fabricated stories just for becoming more popular news channels The English channels are gradually turning even more pathetic.. I get pissed off when Barack Obama's dog or Obama's wife going to a party is being shown on main news in English channels like TimesNow and CNN-IBN.. what the feck is those kind of news.. why do we need to know which dog Obama has got and why and where is his wife and children going.. we hardly know Manmohan's wife and children .. so why the feck do we need to know about the president of another country ... I really get pissed off with especially the English news channels now..

Sehwag's Injury Fiasco: This is what Anand Vasu had to say in HT: BEYOND THE NEWS - Sehwag’s role in saga questionable If there was anything more distressing than the nature of the explosion in Trent Bridge,it was the inevitability of it all.Virender Sehwag (and to a lesser extent Zaheer Khan) have had significant questions surrounding their fitness since India reached England for the World T20. Zaheer recovered quickly, played, and that was sorted. But what of Sehwag? The media wanted answers. Mahendra Singh Dhoni pointed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India, and none was forthcoming. Dhoni has been different from his predecessors in that he believes it is essentially unnecessary to have even a working relationship with the media. In a country where ignominious tournament exits result in players’ houses being tarred and their cars stoned, this was a high-risk strategy at the best of times. Perhaps that’s why the team came out in an elaborate show of unity to “Indian fans” just days ago. The new dispensation of the board also believes that the media are a hindrance, rather than an interested and involved stakeholder. Their official communications are sporadic and bare, leaving the media with no choice but to tap into sources, either within the board itself or among players and both can be unreliable at times. The board and the players blame the media for irresponsible reporting, the media blames the board for being secretive. To an extent both are to blame. But two wrongs seldom make a right. The real question to be asked, in all this, is over Sehwag’s role. At a press conference, Gary Kirsten, the coach, made it clear that Sehwag had a Grade-1 tear and that he had sustained his injury during the IPL. That being the case,Sehwag should have made full disclosure about the extent of discomfort or pain he was suffering. Had he done this, the logical next step would have been a fitness test, perhaps a scan, and we would have been saved all this drama. No medical specialist,no captain, no cricket board can say just how much a player is hurting. Sehwag’s eagerness to play is understandable and if he was fit, the team would want him to play just as much. But he wasn’t fit, and didn’t say so soon enough. Perhaps this was what caused whatever it was that was perceived as a “rift.” Sadly the board, with its lack of transparency, is hardly in a position to pull up Sehwag. Well, sensible thought. I think there should be clear media policy in BCCI and they should give media briefings regularly and that is why a full time media manager at the board level is essential like it is in Australia. Media afterall acts as a bridge between the fans and the players or those who run the game in the country. But in the absence of clarity only, certain C grade news channels and paper start hatching conspiracy theories. Sehwag indeed was hurt during the IPL semi-final. But why was there no clarity on the extent of injury? And why on earth were the media targetting the skipper for that? Skipper is not someone who'll keep an hourly update of everyone's health in the team! Dhoni did absolutely brilliantly to shun the C grade media persons and if innocents got punished with them, then so be it!! Btw, Sehwag finally spoke about his injury: Sehwag admits sustaining injury in IPL Virender Sehwag admitted he was not fit going into the ICC World T20 as he had hurt his shoulder during the IPL semi-final. "I had suffered the injury during our IPL semifinal clash against Deccan Chargers when I dived to stop a ball," said Sehwag, who captained the Delhi Daredevils in the event, after being ruled out of the T20 World Cup. The semi-final against Deccan Chargers, which Delhi Daredevils lost badly, was held in South Africa on May 21, almost three weeks ago. The injury has been described by coach Gary Kirsten as "a Grade I tear" and with the urgency being shown on Sehwag's treatment, it raises question why no medical solution to get him in shape was sought for close to three weeks. Reports now suggest Sehwag would leave for South Africa to show himself to a specialist, but he first intends to show himself to a specialist in London. "There is little I can do. At the moment I would leave for London with my wife (Aarti) and son Aryaveer," Sehwag said. Kirsten had earlier said Sehwag's medical treatment, besides the physio's work, was restricted to just giving injections to the opener. "It's the type of injury we can't make a decision on, yet. He's had an injection and we want to see how he responds to that," Kirsten had said. "He was picked in the squad and he then had got injured which wasn't serious enough for him to miss the whole tournament." A Grade 1 injury is less than five per cent damage to individual muscle fibers. It's a mild strain which requires two to three weeks' rest. However, if the patient continues to play, the condition will worsen. If ignored, a Grade 1 strain has the potential to become a Grade 2 strain or even a complete rupture. Sehwag, in the last few days, hasn't been seen carrying out any extensive physical activity besides lifting his son, incidentally with his injured right armand moving around.

Very strange outburst by Dhoni. Getting angry over simple non offensive questions on sehwag injury. He has not looked happy on this tour. No doubt had some kind of bust up with sehwag. Not that is a major thing as am sure players argue all the time, no doubt they are best mates again. But no smoke without fire, clealry someone is giving gossip to the media within in the camp.

Dhoni bashing will lead India nowhere It is disappointing to see the way the Indian media is suggesting that all is not well within the MS Dhoni-led side, and trying to goad the skipper into providing a reaction. Geoff Boycott comments on the Dhoni-media tiff. More...

2QTWwF0Gjfs Just got hold of the latest press conference video attended by Dhoni. Obviously, the highlight was the total lack of clarity in the handling of the Sehwag injury issue. A few things are baffling - Why would Dhoni or the press manager himself not answer any questions related to Viru's fitness? Why should the team inform BCCI and then BCCI will release a press release for the info of all journalists, when the captain is sitting right there, in front of the journalists themselves? There's something that is going on behind the scenes that is lost on us. There may very well be no rift between the captain and the swashbuckling opener, but the way the entire issue is handled with the media has left a lot to be desired.
