Isn't this best tribute song ever?
Are you talking about the quality of the song or the subject here ? Syd was a nut job , hardly worthy of a tribute imho. Compare this with bruce springsteen singing "the rising" for fallen 9-11 victims. That would be one of the best tribute song ever.

Springsteen's "The Rising" is indeed good but I would put a couple of his own works much ahead of it. Not exactly tribute but still in some ways tribute. Down To the River. g6XRNkS9Ai0 Briliant Disguise Fx0E6EbpSn0

Syd suffered a lot whether or not it was his fault due to drug abuse is irrelevant. As for musical talent he had it in truckloads before his breakdown.

I would be more sympathetic to someone who gets medical help rather than resorting to abuse through LSD and other recreational drugs. Syd Barrett is guilty of the later. Moreover , his mental illness was caused or exacerbated by heavy drug use. Was he worthy of a tribute by his band ? Answer is Yes. Do I think he is worthy of a tribute as a fan ? No . Is this song "Shine on you crazy diamond" best tribute song ever ? That's a personal choice.

I'm not a Christian or even religious, but they have some good proverbs. 'Judge not, lest you be judged yourself' or words to that effect. Yes he made some mistakes in his life and he payed heavily for them.
