SOS to Tendulkar-"get your pads on"

He is there watching in the crowd at Lords. What a waste. Sachin get your pads on and get ready to open against the saffies( no point him playing against poms as that is an easy win for India )! YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU. The saffies threat is Pace bowling and Steyn. There is only one man who can truly front up to face it and propel India forward, and thats the great Sachin. None others can truly face the 90 mph steyn with the confidence of Sachin, let him play him and smash him out of the attack. I am sure the authorities will allow him to play, as its SACHIN after all! He will only need acouple of throw downs as preperation and then will be ready to deliver. Swallow your pride Dhoni, call up the legend NOW!

Nope. It would be an insult to india if God himself has to pad up after saying he doesnt want to. It will be like Krishna picking up his sudarshan chakra in the battle of mahabharat :winky: Let rohit sharma get have a go at steyn. He isnt that bad.

As big a fan of Sachin as I am, it would be taking a backward step. We have a team of youngsters who have to learn to face the best. This is the point of a young team, so that they can learn and improve every match. If we panic and ask for the seniors to comeback at the first sign of trouble, we are never going to build a team for the future. Even if we dont advance further in the tournament, I'd rather do that with a young improving side (eager to learn) then us bring back one of the seniors out of retirement, just to win this tournament.

Not gonna happen. If I was Dhoni' date=' I would [b']get down on my knees and beg him to give up his resolve and play.
Whew, you scared me there for a moment.:--D

India has a good squad. They better try to win with that squad. No point in going Pakistan's way. One of the main thing other countries are amazed at India is the kind of youngsters that fill the roles straightaway. Every team has their regular Test team for experience except India. So let us stick with it and let these evolve. Sure we are bound to cop losses in a lottery game like T20. But in future we will be much stronger.

Let him relax and remain fresh for all the important test series to follow. No need to waste him for this showdown .Moreover young ones need to learn how to play quality bowling .We can't forever depend on our greats :((

I have no problem with Rohit's ability against pace. If anything he was too early into shot against Edwards. He has awful lot of time to play his shots. But i am worried about Raina. He continues to be bothered by shorter stuffs. Yusuf managed his weakness using his height. But overall India has to improve their batting against bounce. I am surprised they still struggled after playing so many matches in the IPL in SA conditions.

You have reiterated what I have been saying all along about Sharma and Raina. Sharma has more than enough time to play any pace bowler whereas Raina is seriously bothered by genuine pace. I don't consider YKP as a batsman, he can slog lower down the order which is fine and bowls alright. The SA pitches played a little slower I guess and then there is the famous Lord's slope which favoured the WI pacers and our boys have never encountered that pitch before which did them in. I don't really think all the Indian players have to improve against pace, some do.

Raina was short of match practice - thanks to dhobi's tuk tuk against bangla and the other minnow. When Fidel was breathing fire, Raina was clueless and dont think that innings did his confidence any good. With dhobi its just mental fatigue after having played non stop for so long. Zak / Sehwag got injured durig IPL. Sometimes wonder the rationale behind conducting mickey mouse IPL before a world cup. Oh well, its BCCI we are talking about after all.

Even funnier, this "world cup" will be held again next year. I have serious problems explaining this "world cup" held every year to my Euro friends.

Oh man! that's news to me. I take back my previous comment. If its held every year, then T20 WC is also a mickey mouse tournament. :--D

My view is that T20s should just be a domestic thing and used sparingly as warmup games before an ODI series. T20s are awesome when its like IPL and what not. Let ODIs and Tests be the main form of cricket. A T20 world cup every year or 2 will be overkill.
