We think we have conquered air, land and water... but if we go into space we are just infants and babies. We dont know how big this universe is or if there are any life forms in other distant galaxies... but we do sure make statements aplenty about a higher power which could have been the reason for all creation. I believe that there exists a higher power far more ancient - with no beginning or no end with an agenda far more superior for human understanding. A power which holds this universe and observes us like a man would observe an amoeba in the micrscope.

The only people who force their religious beliefs down other people's throat are people who believe in God and religion - and the brainwashing starts on innocent kids when they are expected to chant some bhajans or do sajdas even when they have no clue what these things represent. Personally I have no problem with the "I believe in a higher power of God" statements but have a major issue with "There is God because of...........". The absolute worst of the lot is the segment who try to justify their belief in God with science with stuff like, "See, it was written in phalaana book phalaana years back and see now science has also found the same answer" without having a foggiest notion of what science is and what it is supposed to stand for. An example being Macj in this thread who started to invoke Newton's third law as a justification for the existence of God without having any clue about Classical/Quantum Physics and the origin of the universe. Actually, I take it back - the worst are the lot who feed these deluded doctrines to children instead of letting them be and discover what and how they should in a logical, coherent way. Believe me, there are many worse people than atheists in this world. PS : I consider myself an agnostic and not an atheist.

Params7 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 In Assassin's Creed (videogame), they say that the people with the highest power in the Christian world in old times (The Templars) knew the truth "that there is no God". They created the God to gain control of people, and with control of people, they would bring peace to the world because they now have a direction to give to the people who are now united. They wrote the Bible. Stupid repetitive game, Assassin's Creed was, but the storyline was ****ing brilliant. No after-life really isn't that scary when you think about it. Bhagat Singh of all people gave his life away for his country, and he was an atheist - Why? He saw how religion (muslims vs hindus. Hell Hindus vs Hindus with their different Gods) was giving him problems to unite the country. When you die, all your stress, thoughts, etc cease to exist. He knew all he had to do was go from existence and it would unite the country back. Though there may be probably still be an after-life, if there is God, he has done a hell of a job engineering our brains from ever discovering the truth. :hysterical:

Religion necessitates a belief in something which has not been proved on the basis of the good old principles of science, logic, and deduction. A nation exists - it's a reality whether people like it or not. It is not some chimera resulting from multiple leaps of faith.
