Dhondy Posted June 20, 2009 Author Posted June 20, 2009 McGrath has also dismissed Sehwag 4 times in 5 Tests, Thal. Exactly how many times has Mendis got him? The only spinners who have got Sehwag out more than once are Warne & MacGill. Go to the back of the class, BAW. OK, let's take this one step further. If you were picking current bowlers purely on merit, ignoring team balance, who would you select? This is for all surfaces. Here's my order. 1. Steyn 2. Johnson 3. Murali 4. Zaheer 5. Ishant Mendis not in the top 5, and would be relegated further if Flintoff were fit.
zubinpepsi Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 jus like how lankans r home track bullies, flat track bullies, minnow bashers ... lundis is a bully of batsmen whos facing him for the 1st time..once every team has faced him in a series.. he ll b an ordinary bowler... hes just a virgin bully or firsttimer bullly..
Dhondy Posted June 21, 2009 Author Posted June 21, 2009 We'll have a few answers in an hour. SL have never needed him more. Can he deliver under pressure?
zubinpepsi Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Ajantha Mendis (ob/lb) 2.0 0 21 0 10.50 4 2 1 :giggle:
Desi Cartman Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Pakis have played him better than any other team
Shehezaada Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 mendis does OK under pressure...not a bad over, not a match winning one either. Dhondy survives
Dhondy Posted June 21, 2009 Author Posted June 21, 2009 Absolute rubbish. The moment he realised the batsmen were not scared of him, he lost his nerve and started bowling short and wide. That's no great bowler, just a dibbly dobbly slow medium pacer.
Watson87 Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 LOL his overall figures against Pakistan 61 off 7 overs.
Tapioca Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Absolute rubbish. The moment he realised the batsmen were not scared of him' date=' he lost his nerve and started bowling short and wide. That's no great bowler, just a dibbly dobbly slow medium pacer.[/quote'] One thing I noticed during the ODIs against India was that Jayawardene was excessively protective about him. The moment he got hit, he withdrew Mendis because of which he bowled several short spells.
punjabi_khota Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 LOL his overall figures against Pakistan 61 off 7 overs. How did great bowler Udana do ? :hahaha:
flamy Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 How did great bowler Udana do ? :hahaha: Ugly Badri is legendz :finger:
Watson87 Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 How did great bowler Udana do ? :hahaha: Guess I was wrong about Udana, How did Malinga do? :hatsoff: Also Umar Gul and Shahid Afririd? You tell me.
Dhondy Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 Laxman & Dravid will feel like perfect fools now. Lift the bat high and hit him hard. There! Is that so difficult? His bowling will degenerate right before your eyes and the cavorting man will be transformed into a quivering jelly like mass. Remember next time, come October. No respect for the undeserving.
satishg Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I expect Sachin to be even more aggressive against Mendis this time around. He has seen veeru destroy him and he himself did that in that match against KKR in IPL..so Mendis would definitely be a different proposition in the coming series compared to the last one..He took on Brad Hogg every time the ball was thrown to him and if i am not wrong i think Sachin greeted him with a 4 whenever he faced Hogg..similar treatment would be reserved for Mr.Mendis by the master
kumble_rocks Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Looks like Afridi get some tip from Gambhir on how to play Mendis - http://www.mynews.in/fullstory.aspx?storyid=20198
