I am not of the Hindu faith, but I have a great respect for it. If you cannot respect other people's religions, how can you respect your own! The apology is fine, but the ad should not have been run in the first place.

Your logic is fundamentally flawed. A mixture of the ever present ad hominem and 'correlation does not imply causation' fallacies. I don't know if you were educated in India, but if you were it's a damning indictment of a system that encourages students to learn by rote and not develop their critical faculties. I've often spoken out against the bigotry on this board towards Pakistanis but it doesn't mean I don't recognise the threat of an unstable neighbour rife with religious extremism. And if you think I hate white people you obviously haven't read my post w.r.t my ethnic origins. I don't hate them, I just hate the fact that some Desis still see them as 'superior'. Desis going gaga over white girls for example. cos they have fair skin. Back on topic, if I was to proclaim that the Earth is flat and storks bring babies down to their mothers from heaven like in the Disney Film 'Dumbo' I would be ridiculed and rightly so. Yet it's taboo to ridicule someone for believing one of the following: 1. A guy with a snake round his neck comes down from his home on a Himalayan mountain at the end of every day and does a little dance to destroy the Universe. 2. A guy allegedly born 2000 odd years ago turned water in to wine and fed 5000 people with a couple of fish and a few loaves of bread. 3. An illiterate 7th Century Arab was visited on numerous occassions by a celestial being who relayed the word of God to him. There are numerous other examples. Sorry girls and guys, religion is open to ridicule, it invites it as it simply is so inherently ridiculous. Ridiculing and or criticising someone's beliefs is a fundamental right in my book. If you're going to ban it, why not ban the slaughter of cows? People expecting me to respect their anachronistic beliefs are the agents of censorship. Nothing is sacred, and by that I mean everything is open to scrutiny. Including religious belief. The advert in question does qualify as cultural misappropriation, but this is a different issue entirely.

I did not insinuate that all atheists are like that but that was a comment specifically aimed at you. You are talking **** about fictional characters when religions are concerned (the religion itself doesn't matter) - and I merely pointed out that whatever YOU believe in is allowing YOU to say that we are generalizing against Pakistan and that since they have the same skin color as we do, we ought to be supporting them and be against the 'goras' (I'm saying the same things you did during Pak vs. SL final). Just to be clear, the God I worship has 43 ODI centuries, 42 Test centuries, 16500+ Runs in ODIs, and more than 12000 runs in the Test matches of a game called cricket. The deity I worship is a self-proclaimed (and worldwide accepted) TV Legend who has won a Hungarian bridge naming contest, has a day in canada named after him, has a treadmill in outerspace in his name, AND recently had a flag in his honor taken to Mt. Everest, has 2 Emmys, has hosted a White House roast dinner in 2006 with the US President, has invented a word, and has an honorary doctorate from Kent college for being awesome, and regularly beats fate in chess. Got it? Now that I have spoken about my religion, the rest of your **** is crap and I refuse to respond to it.
