well i suppose its for my own good we have a history of diabetes in my family and i am terrified of getting it! so i like to stay healthy and active!! yeah Navratri coming up i'll be fasting as well!

lol You want what, my neighbours are some guys from India, who are here to study and they are shocked at how traditional Indian people here are. Its kinda weird that people in India now look at us as backwards :((

thanks sachin!! yes also the fact that not all of us have the same reasons for fasting!! i took over from my grandmother after she fell ill so its more in her honour 9 days of a fruit detox cannot do ur body any harm!! oh yeah maybe i should for go the fruit too and become a size zero then i will be "in sync with the country i live in" cus thats not backward thats hip!! not!!

nt backward.....ofcourse ppl in some indian cities are so forward that they expect you guys to be fast forward......it is great that you guys keep the traditions alive.......hw do u do it?compulsion?patriotism?love for ur roots?

I call it being caught in a time warp. All the british Indians I have met are seriously in need of therapy.:--D:--D

have you considered that many of us actually some pride in being traditional! the world can change but some traditions are still as beautiful as ever and are worth holding onto!

Traditions does not equal being stuck in the 60s and flying people to Ludhiana to get married. I know certain other things too about what happens with british Indians, safe to say there is no point in getting into that. PS:This is not a reflection of every british Indian but sadly this holds good for a good majority.

thats a whole new subject we're talking about fasting here for navratri, tradition or no tradition thats more to do with personal choice and level of faith! agreed that in some respects brit indians can be a little messed up!!
