Its just that they have times for everything. I got my passport in 2 weeks and I didnt pay extra $200 with which you can get your passport in 1 or 2 days. For a lot of things you dont need to go there as you can post forms. I had to go today to get my wife's visa changed. She had an indefinite visa so some desi babu in delhi told me "yeh kaisa visa hai .. isko check kurna paadega .. sab theek to hai ... sahi nahi lug raha".. We kept telling him that since Im a citizen, she has been given indefinate visa till she applies for spouse visa (which can be done after 2 years only). Anyway it took me 30 mins to convince that moron. Now she got the spouse visa but we had an option to use the old one as the systems get updated here but I decided to get it stamped since we are visiting India next month and I wanna avoid any confusion. Its funny that they didnt even check the visa in the systems and somehow took a decesion based on how beautiful the visa was... He didnt even login to check the status .. just asked questions.. stared at the visa for 25 mins and said "chalo jao"
