Shocking Video

The human body is a conductor of electricity. Hence the current passed from the high voltage power cables => through his body => through the metal covering on top of the train cabin => to ground (earth) This idiot's body provided a short circuit path straight from the voltage lines to ground, hence he got fried.

Then the question is: Why didn't those inside the train get electrocuted? May be most trains are secured against such possibilities and if ever the current comes in touch with the roof, nothing gets inside the train and it goes straight to the engine build to receive it?

As far as I know, if the voltage is high enough and your feet are hanging a small distance from the ground, the current will pass through the moisture in the air. And this video does not look like a fake.
Nope its not fake. Here is another one which happened in Bangkok. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtIXoMSo5gc]YouTube - Man Gets Electric Shock Trying To Save Man[/ame]

Because the people in the train are inside a metallic cavity (the train compartment)' date=' and there cannot be any electric field inside the cavity of a conductor. If you sit inside a hollowed out metallic sphere, then you will be safe even if lightning strikes it on the outside.

Hahah. No there is no such thing. Physics takes care of it.

Regarding your question, Seedhi answered it. One will get electrocuted if their body provides a path for the current to flow. A current of the order of a few milli amperes through the heart or other vital organs can be lethal, often resulting in death. In the power lines in question, we are usually dealing with 10s or 100's of Kilo Volts. His body provided the "link" for the current to flow, from the power lines to earth (ground) Imagine this scenario: A component requires 1 mA of current to work. If a current of 1000 A passes through it, obviously the component will be fried. In his scenario, the high current that passed through the vital organs damaged the tissue, hence death. Regarding the safety of the commuters within the train, in general, they're safe provided they don't mess around with the electrical wiring and components.

Well, the most common explanation given for birds not being electrocuted while sitting on power lines is because there's no 'ground' for the power to pass through. But, I think there's a more complex explanation to it. .
The moisture in the air is not a sufficient conductor of electricity to complete an electric circuit. Current might pass through but only enough to jerk the man off the wire but not enough to kill him though he might die due to the sheer amount of charge his body holds, this may cause him to go into cardiac arrest.

lol.....who the hell hooked that poor thing on the wire? That is so cruel.

If you hang from two wires using the two hands, you will be fried.

..... A lovelorn ram has caught his horn on an electricity cable and "abseiled" down a hill while trying to reach a field of ewes. The sheep accidentally slid down the live wire before coming to a rest against a telegraph pole in the small coastal town of Helgoysund, Norway, on Thursday. The hapless ram was spotted bleating for help as it dangled five metres above the ground. Tourists at the scene managed to pull the sheep back to ground, unharmed, in little over an hour — and as a reward released it to graze with the ewes it was spying on.
