Mr. Wicket
So your logic seems to be: Retiring from T20s = wanting to break the most 100s/most runs record. Can you explain that? Some people don't play test cricket just for the sake of a record. Link to comment
Lord
Lol honestly some of you will do anything to have a go at Ponting wont you.. Tendulkar retires from 20/20 he's a great bloke, giving the youngsters a go. Ponting retires from 20/20 he's a selfish git. If he was a selfish git, he'd play 20/20 earn loads of money and not really care about how he performs. FYI Ponting would still IPL.Now dont get back n say even SRT is doing that.he is an Indian player n is an icon player n has practically no choice Link to comment
saneindian
The biggest surprise is why has ponting retired from int'l t20s when Aus dont playa t20 for the next 4-5 months! To me it looks like a sane decision by reading clearly the writing on the wall. Remember the Aussie selectors had , after the recent t20 WC, said that they will at totally new set of t20 specialists for the next t20 WC. I am sure ponting isnt a 't20 specialist' As selectors had in their mind. Link to comment
newmanthepunter
Ponting is a traditionalist and he loves test cricket.. He has given up T20 so that he can concentrate more on Tests ... Hope he goes well Link to comment

hitman1980
Ponting is the biggest fake cricketer one will come across .. the whole australian team is a bunch of fakers .. He knows tht his time is now over but just to save his ass he wanna make this gesture so tht selectors give him more time.. Why can't there be a decent and intelligent cricketer from australia ... Their fighting attitude is all bullcrap .. when under pressure they crumble like anyone or even more than anyone ... Link to comment

Some people don't play test cricket just for the sake of a record. I was responding to the reason for the vitriol that Ponting gets here. The 'selfish' part was from the sachin fan in me. Aussies seem to be claiming they don't play for numbers, like Subcontinent players, but exactly do it for the same reason. When did SRT/Dravid ever say they they is in the game for the sake of a record? Link to comment

Mr. Wicket
You guys neighbors? You seem to have some strange strains of logic in this thread. Can you explain this one, where apparently all people who comment favourably on Ponting are neighbours? Out of curiosity Domaink, just how long have you followed the game seriously? Link to comment

I strongly suspect our new friend is not Indian as he claims. I was asking him indirectly if he is Australian. I have followed the game seriously since the early 90s. Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
It's irrelevant whether a member here is Indian or Australian or Pakistani. What's more relevant is whether a poster here is an intelligent sort who can contribute and add to the forums (iHammad) or a stupid troll out here to try and stir up nonsense with one foot in his mouth and the other up his ass. I reckon our new friend falls in the latter category. Link to comment
