ludhianvi
I liked the movie :woot: Provided some good entertainment. The first part was much better than the second. The ladies should enjoy it...girl power. I cant believe how many just dont watch a movie after hearing from someone who has actually watched it :hehe: If you fancy some punjabi flavor in you, you'll enjoy the movie and so should the gals and ladies. For the others, too bad come again. Its not along the likes of Iqbal but is more Bollywood with more colours and masala. Rani Mukherjee has done wonderful acting... maybe she'll even win a Bollywood award for this role. And a couple of songs are ripped off from Arif Lohar :hehe: The Indian kit was pretty good in the movie. Some shots :woot: HAADIPA! P.S I can say one cant watch Indian movies with family any longer...or was it always the case?

ludhianvi
Please Ludh nooo- not from someone who likes real cricket Please dont say u liked Singh is King too? So what did you not like about it? Its punjabi flavor or the cricket bit? As I said earlier, if you fancy some punjabi flavor, one would like the movie and so should the gals. If you want to see some real cricket, then watch real cricket, not a bollywood movie which are all about fantasies and providing entertainment for the viewer. It may even be inspirational for some girls playing cricket. As for the cricket it wasnt so bad either,I mean if you can have a 23 ball century, then a score like 160 odd was also chaseable (sp?). As for Singh is King, it was more of a comic relief that didnt have much of a storyline. It always depends on what expectations one is going with when watching a movie. It was just another goofy/comedy type movie just in a different flavor which some may not fancy. Having said that, I dont watch many movies and I usually have a good idea what Im expecting from the movies before hand and am hardly disappointed over watching them.. Its more of a timepass. Ludh, its not about what flavor they mix. Indian cinema is going down the drains and releasing such trash movie for "comic relief" does not do any good for our industry's reputation. How can you not have higher expectation from movie which stars one of the highest paid actors in the industry (Akki in Singh is king) ? Slapstick comedy is not bad and Welcome was a very good movie but don't think they remade Welcome by asking all the characters to don a turban and act in the same storyline movie (Singh is King)? I haven't watched Dil bole....but Yash raj's movies have always been crap IMO (with the exception of few namely Chak de! India). "Big banner" movie makers are hurting Indian films' reputation and should be ***ing banned. More power to the likes of Vishal Bharadwaj, Anurag, Neeraj Pandey et al. Rajiv
I have been a fan of Yash Chopra movies ( DDLJ, Darr, Dil to Pagal Hain ) - soft, great songs and very smooth. Now, again these were times where it was 1 Big box office hit, SRK and big heroine and things changed gradually over the years with low- budget, character actor movies with touch of reality. In short, not-so filmi, now Singh is King and Dil Bole Hadipa types belong to the uber-fantasy filmi types which are basically passe now, unless there is some really interesting plot and cinematography About Punjabi flavor? Punjabis would probably enjoy it more, just like Singh is King. The punjabi flavor I liked the most was "Khosla ka Ghosla"; the characterization of Boman Irani and the whole delhi crowd, now that was practical You cannot be serious that girls can get inspiration from this? if anything, it's a false hope that a girl can play in the mens team and I am not sure what % of women in India actually dream of playing womens cricket But hey, entertainment is subjective. If you enjoyed it then Anurag Singh must have done a good job When I watch a Yash Chopra Film, I expect a Yash Chopra Film ( this certainly had no remnants of it )

Rajiv
i'm getting sick of punjabi characters' date=' punjabi storyline, punjab songs in every goddamn movie...like as if other cultures don't matter[/quote'] Punjabi is close to hindi in many ways. All the actors, directors predominantly have been Punjabis It used to be Bengali cinema which slowly moved over to Shammi, Raj Kapoor and them Amitbah with your Prakash Mehra Its like this Punjabi Actor - Hero Muslim - Hero/Bad Guy Parsis - Noir, Art Films ( mostly 80's ) Bihari - Political, Lalu Impersonation Gujju, Sindhi, Bong, South = Comic Relief ..and then you have your regional films but Bollywood is Predominantly Punjabi
