He won't "retire" from ODIS - not even to preserve himself for the WC or Test matches. For if he does that he'll be in trouble with sponsors who sign 5 year endorsements with him - most of which are based on his ODI appearances. .

Surely 20/20 is where all the money is now and unlike playing 50 overs of cricket, international 20/20 is not that stereneous and Sachin can play in all of those instead of picking and chosing a few ODIs. in fact Dhoni, Uv et all, rocketed to sponsership heaven on the back of international 20/20 performances. And Sachin voluntarily gave up on playing international 20/20 despite knowing how popular the genre was because he felt he was not needed. You can bring up IPL but international 20/20 gives more exposure and more sponsers In his own words, he will continue to play in the forms of cricket where his country needs him, records be damned. I would rather believe him over you. And since when is calling someone money and record minded, hence greedy and selfish, an objective discussion based on facts?

But the fact is when you sign 5 year contract with 10-12 companies - most of the intent is directed towards the adverts during more popular ODIS ( atleast far more popular than than tests) The money in T20 is in playing leagues not international T20. In any case.. How many T20 internationals do we play in a year ? How many ODIS do we play in a year ? Thank you. Byebye

Nobody will give you a 5 year contract if they don't believe you are going to last 5 years. Secondly, people can give him whatever contracts they want, but just because you have an endorsement contract, doesn't mean you will play for those 5 years. BCCI don't make selections based on whether the player has an endorsement contract or not.

Murali technically is Indian. his parents are from Chennai, and they married in Chennai as well, then they migrated to SL where Murali was born and brought up. Its as big loss for Indian, he is by far the most talented indian cricketer playing for another country!!!!

Admitting to having no idea of Tendulkar's ICC rankings over the last 10 years and still using them to make his point. 2. Using some experts as a benchmark to call Knott as the universal best keeper choice and then accusing the same experts of bias against Murali. 3. Calling Tendulkar's choice in Bradman's XI a marketing gimmick when the team has other marketable names like Grimmett and Tallon. 4. Having no clue about Tallon or what cricket historians have written about his keeping and calling him a no name. 5. Having no clue about what the ICC all time top rankings mean and imply and yet using them in his arguments. which might be "owned" for another poster is just a warm up for him.

As much as you would hate it, Tendulkar will play around 30 more tests and end up with close to 15000 runs and 50 centuries. Juwaari will have to be reborn to take a stab at that.

You could'nt be more wrong. We have played 8 T20Is this year , just 1 in 2008 and 8 in 2007. SRT has played 33 ODIS in 2007, 12 last year and 9 already this year. Clearly havn't been following the same game have you ? Is it not common sense that playing a key role in winning a cricket world cup - the first after 24 long years would open many endorsement doors ?

Again, you seem to love putting words in peoples mouth. This is what happens when you barge into a conversation headon without knowing where it started from. If you see the trail - it was in response to why Sachin wasn't retiring from ODIS or atleast playing only big tournies to preserve himself for tests and the WC 2011. What I merely said was - that Sachin cannot pull out of ODIS wantonly playing very sparsely because that would sort of be a breach of trust with his sponsors who sign contracts with him based on his appearances. Sure if he is dropped or injured or unfit its fair game but he can't decide to " rest " as and when he wants for however he wants.
