Is India's media putting too much pressure on the team?

Maybe this isn't something new but in tri nations they were talking about no.1 ranking etc etc. But at the end of the day surely the fans would only be delighted if India lifted the trophy in Centurion and/or Mumbai in 2011? No matter how good India can bat there is no substitute for class bowlers. The times India performed well in WCs abroad recently were due to the excellent bowlers at their disposal (2003- Khan, Nehra, Srinath, Singh, Kumble- 2007 20-20, Sreesanth, in-form RP, Harbhajan- all wicket-takers) The guys looked good v Pak early on and bowled good lines. But generally as the innings wear on- they lack the nouse or pace to get wickets at the right times. I Sharma's shoulders have dropped and needs a rest. Surely Sree needed a recall after some time at Warwicks?

Bowling is a problem, but not as much as it is being made out to be. Just look at the scores at the Centurion - team wins toss, bats first, puts on 300 irrespective of the opposition. South Africa's bowling attack was considered one of the best around - they conceded 300+ to Sri Lanka and England. There is scope for improvement definitely and Nehra showed that good old line and length can do wonders on these kind of tracks. Even P Kumar who was trundling in at 75-80 mph did not get hit around because he bowled good line and length. In Zaheer and Sreesanth's absence we don't have a bowler who can be called up to deliver a wicket like a Lee or Steyn. One would have hoped Ishant to do that, but he has lost it completely.

I think under Dhoni, the team has started ignoring what the media says. After the "incident" during the T20 WC, things haven't been said. Anyways a team shouldn't be worried about what the media has to say, they just have to go out there and do their job. More than the media there are greater expectations from fans.
