I am not so sure of that. Both have a habit of throwing away after some good starts, but I think Sehwag has a much better conversion rate. Laxman is a very moody player and has underachieved a great deal because of these shortcomings. Sehwag is also a moody player, but he has a much better control on his own mood and form. Ultimately it boils down to scoring runs in different situations and Sehwag wins in that.

Sehwag is also a moody player, but he has a much better control on his own mood and form.[/quote'] but VVS has played far more important n match winning innings.some f his 70s-80s r equivalent of 100s.temperament wise he is tougher imo.dont forget he had an axe hanging over his head almost throughout his career. the conversion rate u talk about can be used against Sehwag too in the sense that he either gets > 20 or gets big one.thus being inconsistent.laxman on the other hand always chips in with 40s n 50s.

Check The colonel's performances from about 86 to 88. Simply staggering.He was the best player in the world during that time. His 100's at Leeds and Lords are a masterclass in how to bat on green seamers.He also scored a couple of 100's against the WI during that time. And who can forget his final day 100 vs Haryana in the Ranji final Underrated at best

The issue with Vengsarkar is that the only centuries he scored overseas are those 3 hundreds at Lords. The rest of his tons- 14 I think- came at home. Bit of an home pitch bully. His ave away from home is very poor compared to his career one- think its about 32. Id rate Laxman Vijay Hazare Gundappa Vishawanath Mohinder Amarnath All ahead. Possibly even Azhar and Ganguly too
