Chandan
Team announced for first two ODIs Yuvraj, Sehwag in, Dravid dropped from Australia series NDTV Correspondent13:00 IST, Thursday, October 15, 2009 (Mumbai) The Indian squad for the forthcoming seven-match one-day series against Australia announced. Rahul Dravid, Yusuf Pathan and R P Singh have been dropped from Indian ODI team for the series against Australia. Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh back in the squad after recovering from injuries Yuvraj Singh, who was ruled out of the Champions Trophy due to a finger injury suffered during a practice sessions, will play from the second ODI onwards. Munaf Patel returns to the 15-member squad, Dinesh Karthik omitted. The ODI series would start with the day encounters at the Reliance (previously IPCL) Stadium in Vadodara on October 25 and end with the final day/night clash at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on November 11. The other matches are scheduled at Nagpur (Oct 28), Delhi (Oct 31), Mohali (Nov 2), Hyderabad (Nov 5) and Guwahati (Nov 8) with all these ties, barring the sixth one in Assam, to be day/night contests. Team: Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, Ashish Nehra, Virat Kohli, Amit Mishra, Munaf Patel, Sudeep Tyagi, Ravindra Jadeja, Praveen Kumar, Ishant Sharma. LINK --------------------------------------------- Just can't understand the team here. Are we going to play 5 bowlers? If not, who all can bowl to fill in the 5th bowlers role? Sehwag can't bowl as he still has shoulder problem even while throwing, same with Sachin, Yuvi can't play the 1st ODI. Does that mean 10 overs from Jadeja and a sureshot place for him in the XI? King Tendulkar
Y Pathan also axed Link to comment
King Tendulkar
Selectors found the excuse not to pick sree as I said and used it! Pious hypocrites. Agree with dropping Dravid and Pathan. Good move picking Tyagi, lets have a look as apparently has pace, lets hope he has a radar as well Would have kept RP and dropped Nehra. And would have included R Sharma instead of Jadeja. We dont have a decent all rounder so no point picking a bits a nd pieces player and pretending we do have! But all in all not a bad squad Link to comment
Texy
full squad: MS Dhoni (capt/wk), Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel, Sudeep Tyagi, Praveen Kumar, Ishant Sharma. King Tendulkar
Ishant, Pathan, RP and Dravid all dropped. Agree its time for Dravid to officially announce his retirement from odis and move on. I love you Rahul but its over now in odis! No way should he picked again, especially as next WC is in India were power hitting is the way forward! Link to comment
King Tendulkar
No way should Kumar be in squad! Not good enough! Link to comment
Sooda
Its a FRAKKED up squad ONE specialist spinner for a HOME series. What has Mishra done wrong? didnt have a great t20 outing I think? But his last ODIs were good. Worse still ISHANT is still there. WHY?? I would have dropped Ishant for Amit, I would have had DK in as backup keeper. Agree with Jadeja there, thats a good move, so much more of a batsman and a bowler than YKP. The problem is he cant bat at 7, he needs time to settle in. I do hope its not too early for Tyagi. And King Tendulkar- why not Nehra>? Because he was our only good bowler in the CT? Link to comment
King Tendulkar
And King Tendulkar- why not Nehra>? Because he was our only good bowler in the CT? Dont rate him. Had a flash in the pan performance in SA. But still does not change the fact he is pants! Why have threads merged? One thread was about rumour/speculation on what squad may be and other was the actual squad. Now have to go to 2nd page of thread to see what squad is! Poor effort by mod!:winky: Link to comment

They say that it is 15 member squad and have put up the names of just 14 players. NDTV is showing that Mishra is in. Link to comment
Texy
mishra and ojha are gonna b rotated in the series according to cricketnirvana.com Link to comment
Sooda
Im sure Mish will feature at some pt in the series, but Ishant needs to know he cant underperform and still cling on to his spot. Link to comment

Made it confusing now, two completely different topics. As for Nehra, and even Kumar (who bowled well vs Aus) - they both did well in CT and if Ishant who bowled a load of rubbish can still be there, then those guys defo deserve a spot Chandan- youre right it is 14 there, so Mish is in, good. Still a bit top heavy with pacemen though, Id have thunk theyll play 2 spinners and 2 pacers as our pace attack just isnt that good. Jadeja, Mishra and Bhajj could potentially be a useful spin attack. I guess the selectors know that Yuv can chip in once he recovers. yeah Tex, Ojha will feature too later, this is just the 1st two ODIs... Link to comment
gaurav92
good looking squad but i still feel we lack the experience in the pace department, rest all is rock solid :nice: Link to comment
Shane
mishra and ojha are gonna b rotated in the series according to cricketnirvana.com Thats good, since there is no point in picking all three, as only two would feature in the eleven. Link to comment
King Tendulkar
I merged the threads so that people can go back to whatever they were saying earlier about players for selection. How is it confusing. And KT, don't be so lazy. You can click the last post and get the page where actual squad is. But now the serious topic, what'll be our XI? 4 bowlers or 5 bowlers? 2 seamers or 3 seamers? Who can be left out of XI apart from Ishant? Because the squad being announced is breaking news. A fresh topic. Now posters open up the breaking news of actual squad announcment and cant see the squad. They have to keep looking, keep looking and then get to page 2 and finally see the squad. Its not about me being lazy! Link to comment
