No flat track at Kotla tomorrow

The Feroz Shah Kotla is almost certain to halt the runathon that this series has been so far though the curator believes the pitch should behave better than it did during the Champions League Twenty20 earlier this month. Both the captains expect a low and slow pitch and hope it doesn't break too much during the match. Vijay Bahadur Mishra, the Kotla curator, says he has done all he can to ensure neither side gets an unfair advantage and that the ball bounces more than it did in the Champions League. "We have been watering it and rolling it repeatedly to make the top layer firm," he said. "We left it uncovered last night too. The idea was to let it absorb as much dew as possible. "What we have got here is a wicket somewhat like the ones at Sharjah, not fast and bouncy but firm." Mishra says horizontal-bat shots will still be difficult to play, but expects around 240 to be a par score. If that happens, it will be a huge improvement over the Champions League: four scores below 100, one of which was the tournament's lowest total, two-fifths of dismissals clean bowled. Ricky Ponting doesn't expect drastic changes, though. "I think it will be low and slow as we saw through the Champions League. Pretty hard for the batsmen to score," he said. Ponting also made an interesting observation: "Spinners will play a big role no doubt, but if the fast bowlers bowl well, they are going to be the hardest ones to score off," he said. "For spinners - because it's spinning so much - the margin of error becomes small. Rotating the strike against spinners might be a bit easier than against the faster bowlers." Dhoni said it was important to not go out to bat with preset notions. "It is very difficult to set a target," he said. "As a team your first priority should be to get off to a good start. If you get off to a good start in the first few overs, then you can set targets like 10-over target. So if the character of the wicket changes you can accordingly shuffle (the batting order) and see what a good score is. It is the type of wicket where 220 or 200-odd can be a good score if it behaves in the same way [as in the Champions League]."

Another DDCA related problem

NEW DELHI: It was a night of drama at the Ferozeshah Kotla stadium, which was getting final touches before the third India-Australia ODI to be held on Saturday. All of a sudden, in the evening, Delhi police personnel descended on the stadium and drove out officials of the Delhi and District Cricket Association, citing a sanitization drill. And while the Delhi cops supposedly went about their duties, DDCA officials were kept standing outside for about two hours as even the gates were locked. Police say it’s standard procedure, but the DDCA smells something else — resentment over being denied passes after tickets sold out as early as Thursday. ‘All the officials were told to leave and the policemen even threatened to arrest those who stayed behind," a top DDCA official told TOI. "The gates were locked on us and all the staff were made to wait for over two hours outside. This has never happened before." Another official said: "They (police) usually come at 10-11pm. Earlier, all those present used to be asked to come out, show their identity cards and then be allowed to re-enter even as police went through the sanitizing." Some DDCA officials claimed it was pressure tactics adopted by Delhi Police. "Maybe they wanted more passes. Probably they don’t want Delhi people to watch cricket matches," a senior official said.
I am telling you BAN THIS &^%*ING STADIUM !!!

So, It is DELHI police. My beef is about Delhi in General --- Be its Police, DDCA, Politicians, Big Wigs, Rag Pickers, Prostitutes etc etc etc. It is all Delhi. OK and when these morons do not have any sense to do anything -- like in normal world, they need to pay the price. Stop cricket in Delhi for 2 years and send a stern warning -- get your house in order and then think of hosting games. As simple as that.

You can barf out all the frustrations you have about Delhi (I don't know what it is) in some other section but not in Cricket talk. If anything that irks you about Delhi related to cricket, you are more than welcome to give your 2 cents.

Aussies dont give wet outfields' date=' bad food etc to the touring teams[/quote'] I agree about the wet (which is also lack of professionalism not a conspiracy) but as far as food is concerned .. Its not bad food .. its just that Aussies dont have the immunity that the Indians have :dontknow: I have been living in Aus for many years now and even I fall sick in India if I dont eat at a proper place but if I eat at decent places then chances of falling sick are quite slim. In any case its not deliberately given to the Aussies .. lol that would be a crime , right?
