the selection of zaheer, sreeshanth in the team and leaving out nehra and munaf was seriously a surprising decision which we dint expect . although zak is coming from a injury and sreeshanth having some attitude issues , this selection could backfire also .. although a bold and good decision they have made i feel .. and also bringing in vijay, ojha and badrinath in the team was a good step too .. i wish lots of success to this team :two_thumbs_up: India squad: MS Dhoni (capt/wk), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, M Vijay, S Badrinath, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Sreesanth, Pragyan Ojha, Amit Mishra.

Sreesanth and Zaheer recalled - IND - SRL Test series squad announced Temperamental fast bowler Sreesanth has been given one more chance to resurrect his stop-start career, after being selected in India's 15-man squad for the first two Tests against Sri Lanka. Sreesanth is now a candidate to share the bowling responsibilities with a fit-again Zaheer Khan. Sreesanth, who last played for India in 2008, has had his share of injuries and criticism over attitude in equal measure. His disciplinary issues have been in both domestic and international cricket - he was recently issued a 'final warning' by the BCCI - but he has been handed a chance to let his bowling correct that. Zaheer has recovered well from his shoulder injury and, having featured in Twenty20 matches during the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament and a Ranji Trophy fixture. He has not missed a Test but has not played limited-overs cricket for India since the ICC World Twenty20 in June. The selectors have also recalled Pragyan Ojha, the left-arm spinner, and the Tamil Nadu pair of M Vijay and S Badrinath as reserve batsmen. Ojha, yet to make his Test debut, toured Sri Lanka earlier this year, but lost his place to Amit Mishra, who had made a strong debut against Australia in Mohali in 2008. Vijay, an opener, was handed a debut in Nagpur against Australia after Gautam Gambhir was banned for one Test. Badrinath has yet to play a Test. There was no space for Ashish Nehra, who has done well after making his ODI return, or Munaf Patel as India opted for three spinners. There was no reserve wicketkeeper named. The first Test is in Ahmedabad starting November 16 and the second in Kanpur from November 24. India squad: MS Dhoni (capt/wk), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, M Vijay, S Badrinath, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Sreesanth, Pragyan Ojha, Amit Mishra.

pretty good squad although would have like Nehra or even Tyagi.instead of Sree.not sure what Sree has done since his return. would be fun to see Bhajji n Sree playing with each other. also would have wanted Kohli or Rohit instead of Badrinath.its better we groom youngsters rather than Badri who wont get a game anyway.

Why is Raina getting overlooked for test matches He is the future in that middle order and they should keep him in the squad even though its known he wont be part of first 11 Its surprising that some folks want Nohit Sharma in the test squad ahead of Raina
ofcourse Rohit would be a better test player than Raina.Rohit has much tighter technique n has got no obvous flaw like short ball for Raina.Raina,OTOH is more aggresive, which is why hes a better ODI player

Just noticed one thing. Nehra has not been included though he has been outstanding in the last 6 months. :WTF:
he is still recovering him from an injury. i dont think he is still good enough for the workload of a test match bowler... In his last interview he himself was not confident of playing a test match. munaf was not included because we already have three spinners in bhajji, mishra and ojha.:--D

Raina is also a much better play of spin that Rohit Tighter technique - i like to differ by saying Raina has a better defence and storkeplay than sharma

Rohit is not right up there in the work-ethic category. and yes rohit is more gifted than raina... but obviously its about how u make the best use of what u got.

Rohit has played some crucial knocks for Mumbai in the domestic in big games(also his team reaches the finals every year more often than not). Thats why he has a slight edge over Raina.

If that is the case then the selection is fine. If Nehra is not confident of playing in test matches then he should not be forced. It is a great squad selection in that case. But yes as some people pointed out, Raina and Rohit should be given chances in the future. But Vijay and Badri is also good selection as they have performed consistently in the last few seasons. Or maybe Vijay and Badri are just bias selections as the selectors are also from South. :P

Rohit is defintely a better player of short ball.never judge a player on T20 solely. u answered urself there. Raina can get bombarded with short ball easily.there is no restriction in tests. the thing with Raina is hes too aggresive n doesnt like to wait.he can get easily get frustrated in tests. Rohit on the other hand has shown that he can wait like he did in CB series final Raina is a better player of spin-but not much better.theres hardly any difference actually.
