Captain of Bhangra
60.06 to be precise... After 11 years, 107 Tests, and 178 innings, that is superb... The only thing that can be held against him is that he was never had to face McGrath, Warne, or any other Aussie bowler... While talking of averages, it's amazing to see that after a year, 13 Tests, and 21 innings, Mike Hussey can boast one of 77.41... Link to comment
Bumper
Re: Ponting Now Averages Over 60... This is one hell of a purple patch he has hit. Moyo's record is already under threat. His avg against all opponents he has faced (except England) is second to none. I dont think he can be dismissed as a poor bowler bully or an FTB, his record thru out the world (except India) is very impressive. Link to comment

Vinod Kambli averaged around 73 in his first 12 matches... personally, i have never found Hussey's battinig tht great.... he jus looks like a patchy, limited batsman who has been given the form of his life.... its gonna run out pretty soon... King
Re: Ponting Now Averages Over 60... Ponting is clearly the best right now and has been for the last couple of years or three. He's been better than Rahul Dravid too this year. I don't reckon he will run into bad form in the next year or two. He was always destined for such accolades anyways. Even before he made a debut for Tasmania he was considered the next prodigy in Australian cricket and he has pretty much got there. Link to comment
Gambit
Re: Ponting Now Averages Over 60... Gilly was also averaging over 60 for quite some time and now he's back to 50. Hope the same happens with Dubya. Link to comment

The Outsider
Re: Ponting Now Averages Over 60... The only thing which I can see that'll stop Ponting from over taking Lara and Tendulkar is the forced one year break in which Aus. dont play any test matches. Link to comment
