King
Barring one or two sessions India utterly dominated. Now you decide if Bangladesh were ordinary or not? How many times did they take 20 wickets? First game they lost by over 100 runs and this one they are possibly going to lose by 10 wickets. How can you not term this Bangladesh team as ordinary? teacup
That is cheap. The problem people had on Sehwag's statement was a lack of respect/decency. It was not a question of fact. Btw, 18 wickets is as good as 20 and India would not have declared in the 2nd inning if not for the weak batting lineup of Bangladesh. Now, get a life. Link to comment
Deleted_User_1
Yes one has to be ordinary to collapse like that, that too more than once. Link to comment
King
There should be no excuses made, Sehwag called Bangladesh an ordinary side and it was proved. Few years ago when McGrath and the Aussies used to say then do it as well they were lauded. I guess Sehwag should be lauded for being open and for reading Bangladesh side like the back of his hand. As for teacup, you can drown in the teacup :hysterical: Link to comment
King
Oh BTW as for some of the Bangladeshi players taking cheap shot at India not as good as South Africa or Australia, suck on 0-2 test result :yay: Link to comment

King
Not trying to be cheeky but just making sure people understand it was not such a crime Sehwag committed by saying Bangladesh was ordinary. The media and the likes made Sehwag sound like Hitler while they all continue to slip the same message every day in their match reports. I think the media now deserves to sulk. They just played that one word "ORDINARY" to their advantage to sell news. Bangladesh bought it too without realizing they are yet to prove their standing in test cricket. I hope they do but they are still quite some distance away and should relax a bit. There used to be a time when even Sri Lanka was called ordinary and they did not make a huge furore out of it. They carried on performing to an extent they are contenders for no.1 in both test and ODI. Bangladesh can take a leaf out of Sri Lanka's book and learn how to turn the tables around. Link to comment

teacup
I think this thread does serve one purpose, however hard it might be to believe, and that is to identify those in this forum that take pleasure in picking on the weak. And King, you still have no answer to the fact that Sehwag was indeed proved wrong when Bangladesh did pick up 18 wickets and would have easily completed the 20 if not for the early declaration by India. Gavaskar did make a comment on TV that India will declare early to save Sehwag's face and that is exactly what happend. Link to comment

What's wrong in Sehwag claiming Bangladesh is an ordinary test side? What answer are you seeking? Given Bangladesh's track record (Gillespie scored a double hundred, figure that) you can't be sure Bangladesh would have picked up the last two. Either way when Sehwag said 20 wickets he meant Bangladesh is not capable of bowling India over twice to win a test match. It is inconsequential whether India were going to lose 20 wickets or not, Bangladesh still is an ordinary test side. They have potential in ODIs and even Twenty20s but test cricket, no chance. FYI Ishant Sharma did come out to bat and even batted for about 14 balls before the inning was declared. If India wanted to declare they could have done so without even sending Ishant out to bat. Bottom line India wasn't bowled out in the second inning and the 9th wicket unbeaten partnership lasted for about 5 overs before Sehwag declared. Sehwag even gave you folks a chance to pick up 20 wickets in a test match by sending out Ishant to bat but you guys just didn't lap it up. Never mind, good luck next time. Link to comment
King
Oh BTW so much for Bangladesh was going to easily take the last couple of wickets, even Mishra scored a half century. Secondly, FYI the 9th wicket partnership was about 20 runs in 5 overs. Link to comment
asterix
LOL Count on Bangers to completely miss the point. If teams start winning test matches by taking 18-20 wickets without backing it up with batting, every bottom ranked team will be EXTRA ORDINARY.. Sehwag actually delayed the declaration. Here we were banging our heads for Sehwag to declare early. The lead was enough for the Bangers to lose.. Sehwag cannot keep on delaying the declaration just because Bangers are not able to take remaining 2 wickets. He had to delare to win the match andput Bangers, where they belong.. Link to comment

donkey
Sehwag is the man, deshies wanted nothing less than a win but couldnt even manage a draw. I suppose deshies will forfeit their future games against SA and OZ, provided they are better than India. Link to comment

Rajiv
From 219-2 to 300 odd all out - no way they are ordinary but extraordinary I was glad to see the captain ( bangla ) being frank abt it in the end and said will try their best in NZ Link to comment

You don't have to be a Banger to voice your distaste on an Indian player, mate. It might be a little hard for you to understand but I am as Indian as you are. And, about me "missing the point", Sehwag's opinion on Bangladesh was based on their perceived inability to take 20 wickets. If you weren't so presumptuous you would have seen the point.
