He is the best coach right now we can have. He keeps a low profile and does his job perfectly. I dont want our team to lose him. I hope South African board doesnt emotionally blackmail him. :@

at the end of the day you have realize that he is a South African and it will very tempting for him to go back home. I admit Gary has done well but I would like India to have a coach from our home land, who understands out culture and our cricket. Whats with the love affair for foreign coaches.

Because if we have a desi coach, he'll buy 10 boxes of sweet after every win and love our players to death....:giggle: Mr yuvraj and Nohit Sharma can get more endorsements by joining the biggest loser.....:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

Kirsten is the Indian coach and will be the (legally bound) Indian coach atleast for a year. I don't know what the Saffers are talking about. They're just getting a bit too emotional here. They need to understand that you can't have everything you set your sights on. And they are really retarded to have let a legendary coach like Mickey Arthur go.

^^ We should give Wasim Indian citizenship, he deserves it.

Good lord another bout of verbal Diahorrea from everyone. All the articles mention that Kirsten is the bookies favourite. There is no mention about CSA having offered the position to him. Read the news, will ya guys.

What about the South African dude Graham Ford? Remember how he embarrassed BCCI? He applied for the job when Guru Greg was let go. He was short-listed, he came to India, did the interviews with the BCCI boffins. After all that hoopla, he was selected and offered the post and bizarrely, he refused the job! :omg: I dont think Kirsten will just go. He looks a thorough professional. By now, he would have made some strong bonds with many of the team players. And given where our team is positioned at the moment (The senior batsmen are playing better than ever before, the bowlers are delivering), it is at the cusp of some significant achievements (Wins in South Africa, Australia, WC '11). When Gary Kirsten first took over, he would have made these three as a priority of his coaching assignment. Now to simply jettison the team and go without accomplishing some of your most important goals seems highly unlikely.

SA have other options .. they dont have to force someone to break the contract and come and coach ..
They can't do that with us. Not at all with the kind of power we have :--D

Thats bull. All it will take is Kirsten to say, I would like to return to my home country. There is nothing the power of BCCI can then do. I don't believe it will happen though, Kirsten doesn't seems to be the kind of guy who will leave what he is doing suddenly and leave. May be after the 2011 WC probably, but don't see it happening. Who knows though.

Guys, relax. CSA haven't indicated that they have Gary in mind as the next coach. This is just the media looking for sales. The Kirsten angle sells. He is, after all, the coach of the number one test team. There's a CSA meeting scheduled for 19 February. Untill then I don't think we'll really know which direction CSA will take. My personal opinion is that they're looking for a coach and seletors who'll be better 'team players' as far as political pressure is concerned. But that's just my opinion.

I will be surprised if Kirsten leaves. Who would hate working with these great Indian legends. They also shower lot of praise for Kirsten. In the end family comes first. So there is an outside chance he might consider.
