Bhai mere' date=' our entire team couldn't manage 250 in our first innings![/quote'] So what... 2 years ago, even Aussies couldn't make 250 against our bowling. Doesn't mean their batting is that bad. You should give bowlers credit but never take away a strength of a guy who has scored 15K runs in each format of the game. After he goes, I would doubt that we will save this one. But until then, lets be patient.

May be Dhoni has to come up with some unorthodox field set to get something out of this bowling.
He will not do that or anything extra-ordinary. He is a laid back captain..He just allows things to happen..Otherwise which captain has the cheek to say that, "he is happy with the bowlers"? Is he still happy now?

I think all the pre series talk of chin music and bouncers aimed at the head have got to our batsmen who are hanging on their backfoot all the time. Hopefully a lesson has been learnt and we will see an improved display tomorrow. Sachin wasnt bad in the last 10-12 overs he played today , Vijay also looked pretty solid and was always trying to get behind the line of the ball and play it accordingly.

Vijay always has this confidence about him. No nerves. Just that he was up against some incisive bowling with great control, skill and strategy. Steyn has explained how he set up Vijay in the first innings. He picked that wicket as special. No shame in that. Hope he learns from it and does a better job in the 2nd outing.

A very good yardstick that we can follow while evaluating the chances of teams in a match is determine how many sessions they have to win in a row to claw their way back into the match. If the number is anything more than 1.5 - 2, we can safely assume the team's probably out of reckoning. But for India to survive, we have to win 4, yes FOUR sessions in a row and that is almost nigh impossible. Given that we're still 250 runs behind, even if we bat out the entire 4th day, we're not out of the woods by any means. For us to save this match, we have, at a minimum, bat at least till halfway through the session b/w lunch and tea on day 5. Even then, our lead will only be around 180-200 and the South Africans will have a decent crack at it with the 40-45 overs remaining. This match is over. There's no way we're going to win 4 sessions with a non-existent lower order.

But he has started well in the second innings, and as you say, hopefully will learn from it and push on tomorrow. So far he has had a problem of converting starts into big scores - 33, 41, 87, 30, 4 and 27*. At this level there is always a danger of getting done in early on by a top class bowler like Steyn, making it all the more important you make a big one when you get set. Of course, he will have to start again tomorrow morning. Another dismissal for 30-40 will do neither him nor his team's prospects much good.
