'injury'???? He can easily pull out if he had wanted to. He will play it for the sake of money though. Who wouldn't play 14 short games to make more money than international cricket in a whole year?
he would play 14 games to make 3mn bucks. Do you know how much Tendu has made over his lifetime? Conservative estimates are between 200-300mn dollars. You think he cares abt 3mn bucks?

Every one cares about money. From my experience as a cashier at various stores, 90% of the people wait to get their 1cent change back regardless of how much money they spend. Why? every cent matters and so does 3m... 3m is a lot of money and every one would care for it. Give three 3m to a billionaire and he will take it.

It's not about money anymore for Sachin. 1.5 millions is just like any other brand endorsement deal for him which will not take more than 2-3 days to shoot and some promotional appearances in an year. More than anything, its the BCCI which pressurises our star players to play in the IPL matches. Given a choice I am sure SRT will be the first one to opt out of such a tamasha tournament.

waiting for 1c has virtually no costs to it. Playing 14 helter skelter games has a cost on your body which in his case may prevent the ability to make more money. Think of it as in investment to maximize future earning potential.

Harbhajan to miss first two ODIs against South Africa

Offspinner Harbhajan Singh is likely to miss the first two ODIs against South Africa due to family commitments. The three-match series begins on February 21 in Jaipur and Harbhajan has his sister's wedding to attend on February 22. "He [Harbhajan] has sought permission from the BCCI to attend his sister's wedding on February 22," Harbhajan's personal manager told PTI. Yuvraj Singh, who is missing the Test series because of a hand injury sustained in Bangladesh, is also doubtful. The selection committee will meet in Kolkata on Tuesday and a few changes are expected to be made to the squad that lost the tri-series final against Sri Lanka in Dhaka. Yusuf Pathan, who recently guided West Zone to victory in a record chase of 536 against South Zone in the Duleep Trophy final, could make his return to the national team. He last played in an ODI during the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy. Tamil Nadu spinner R Ashwin is believed to be in contention for a maiden call-up as well.
http://www.cricinfo.com/indvrsa2010/content/story/448423.html I remember when Gambhir was away similarly during the Lanka series, the English here on sky Sports couldn't believe how someone would miss a test match for sister's wedding.

Sachin is available for ODIs vs SA Sachin Tendulkar, Little Master II, is available for the three-match ODI series against South Africa. More... Sachin is available for ODIs LOKENDRA PRATAP SAHI Calcutta: Sachin Tendulkar, Little Master II, is available for the three-match ODI series against South Africa. “I’m definitely available,” Sachin, who’d opted out of the tri-series in Bangladesh last month, told The Telegraph on Monday. That remains India’s last engagement in ODIs. The selectors will be meeting here on Tuesday to pick XV for possibly all three ODIs — in Jaipur (February 21), Gwalior (February 24) and Ahmedabad (February 27). According to well-placed sources, Yuvraj Singh’s availability wasn’t known till late on Monday. A wrist injury has kept him out of the ongoing two-Test series. If Yuvraj isn’t fit, then Abhishek Nayar or Yusuf Pathan could benefit. Young Manish Pandey’s name is also doing the rounds. The selectors, one learns, are in the dark, but lead spinner Harbhajan Singh is understood to have informed the Board that he wouldn’t be available for the first two ODIs, owing to a wedding in the family. Tamil Nadu’s Ravichandran Ashwin, an all-rounder who bowls off-spin, may well take Harbhajan’s place. Meanwhile, it’s not clear whether Sreesanth, coming off an injury, is going to be in the XV. There’s some uncertainty over Ishant Sharma as well. The certainties are: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Virender Sehwag (vice-captain), Sachin, Gautam Gambhir, Dinesh Karthik, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Sudeep Tyagi. Footnote: The buzz is that a “communication gap” has developed between the team management and the quintet headed by Krishnamachari Srikkanth. If that indeed is true, then the misgivings need to be cleared quickly.
