"Cricket is the greatest tie we have between the two countries. It's really disappointing. There was nothing I could say to change their minds," said the organiser of the tour for players from Madhya Pradesh [ Images ] and Rajasthan [ Images ], Bruce Adams. "This is a massive wake-up call for Australia to take responsibility for the actions of everyone," he was quoted as saying by The Age. The series was meant for 18 to 24-year-olds and featured first-grade Indian players and local cricket teams in Canberra. "The coverage in India has caused a lot of concern," Cricket Australia's anti-racism officer Peter Young said. Huh, The Law enforcement agencies in Australia are certainly fully capable of protecting the visiting Indians from the threats, if any. Its a bit ludicrous for Asian sportspersons to boycott Western countries citing security fears, given that the security threats in their own countries are several notches higher than in Western countries. And lets not forget that there still 100s and 1000s of Indians still living in Australia. If they find it safe enough to continue there, I am sure some it shouldnt be too different for some visiting Indian cricketers, that too because they're going to be there only for a few weeks. This is a bit like the case of PCB not allowing Pakistani players to play in IPL-2, citing security fears. That the IPL was subsequently shifted to South Africa is a different issue. I am sure back in Australia, this is considered to be bit of a joke.

We Asians are self-depreciating. Whatever is given to us, we accept it. We are so quiet that we are perceived to be meek and then played around by the western countries (Not a rant to you, but Australia is actually neither Western nor exactly rich, may I add). Its only warranted that our boys state what they feel and stand up for themselves and stand by their decisions. People might laugh at first, coz they aren't used to seeing Asians having a spinal-cord. We have been dominated for years, but its a welcome change that now its our time in the sun. And sooner or later, everyone has gotta accept that. If Asia is not satisfied, we don't come. Simple! If you want Asians to come, convince them to. Look, just because a country is a western one and rich, doesn't make it safe. Being Western & rich aren't criteria's to judge safety. I can see Asian nations sending their security teams to visit these western countries (like they do in Asia) before we tour them. Bittersweet "revenge". It all comes back, in kind

There's nothing self-deprecating about acknowledging facts and ground realities. The cruel truth of the world we live in such that, an Indian living in India is far more susceptible to an attack by terrorists than an Indian living in Australia. If you're going to deny that, then you're allowing your patriotism to cloud your judgement. If Indians feel insecure about going to a place where they might be attacked, then we must all first leave our own cities. Day after day, 365 days a year, there's an imminent and real threat to all our citizens, especially those living in cities, from Islamic loons sponsored by elements from across the border.
