The entire team is not doing well. But I rate him high as an all rounder. He is a much more talented batsman than' date=' say, Watson. He can play all round the wicket and there are few more graceful and powerful strikers of the ball over extra cover, inside out.[/quote'] But talent has to shown in results or else nothing matters...Watson also in same Situation as bravo is now few years back..but he improved a lot in recent time.... Entire team not doing well is not a reasonable point..u see how well Shiv played for same team...

Watson is clearly heck a lot better batsman than Bravo, Bravo in ODIs is a batsman who hits n misses like Ashraful lol. Even in terms of bowling Watson is a far better pick, we have seen in this series he always gives the breaktrough. Bowling averages Watson in Test and Odis 32.70 and 28.04 Bravo in Test and Odis 38.14 and 29.35 Bravo is overhyped, It's actually an insult to compare Watson with Bravo, Watson is going to be one of the greatest all rounders in cricket if he doesn't get injured anymore:((

watson. world class batsman, well above average quickish bowler, good fielder, and world class Tw@. he does it all. His batting is more substance over style though. not enjoyable for neutrals to watch.

Folks - I know Bravo does not compare favourably with Watson statistically. Going by statistics, Flintoff is nothing but average, mind you. And to say that Watson is a better bowler is just wishful thinking. He can at most cobble together a few overs at the ODI level. That is all. Do you really believe he can get you wickets in Test cricket? Also I like the way Watson has responded to the opening position assigned to him. However, lets not forget that he is walking, talking, card carrying LBW candidate. Any good swing bowler would have him in a jiffy. He is in excellent form at the moment. As I type this he is tearing into Tim Southee. But lets wait and see how long this form lasts. I also feel that he is being handled with kid gloves when it comes to bowling as Australia dont want him injured. Bravo by the way is an excellent fielder - far and away better than Watson on the field. And he is a wily bowler. Both bowl around the same pace now - after Watson's nth injury. Watson initially was much quicker.

Watson for me. On Bravo, he started his career really well as a bowler but of late he has become a shadow of his old self. The injury he sustained a year back didn't help his cause too. But there is some hope if his recent performance in Australia is anything to go by. Everyone was expecting Roach to pick the wickets on that flat pitch in Adelaide but it was Bravo who turned it on, first with a spectacular catch to dismiss Watson then two crucial wickets of Hussey and North in no time. He even managed to beat Haddin a few times and on one such occasion the ball kissed the off stump but the bails didn't fall off. Again, he was amongst the wickets in Perth, finishing with a four-for in the second innings. So, there is still hope and I will not give him up as yet. One thing I did like to see him do is mellow down his batting a bit, though. He plays a lot of shots in the air early on in his inns and throws his wicket away.

Watson is a good bowler, more then capable of snaring a wicket or 2 if not more in both tests and one dayers. He is a very good bowler, I don't think there is any doubt that he is good enough to pick up wickets at test level. He is also a very reliable fieldsman, one of the best in the game, I'm not going to say he is better then Bravo, but he's not much worse. I'm confident this form won't just last, but it will get better.

If he does get better, Bradman99, I think it will be good for the game as a whole, not just for Australia. The game needs more all rounders. But just count me as unconvinced for the moment. About his Test match bowling - I really dont see him picking wickets. Nowhere near as much as Bravo at the least.

Who gave the option of afretard? Yuvraj is a better allrounder than him according to ICC rankings of allrounder.
If we had to go with ICC rankings then this thread is useless, because we already have the list! But you can't understand!

Countrywise India : Yuvi, Jadeja Aus : Watson, but against pakistan(White, ponting, johnson, hauritz, clarke, warner, mckay, bollinger, ryan harris, and co......incl. the coach tim nielsen are all world class all rounders). SAF : Kallis, Van Der Merwe Windie : Bravo, Pollard NZ : Vettori, Styris Eng : Wright,Collingwood Pak : All :fail: to qualify Bang : not bothered to includ any :D SL : Jayasuriya :hail: But if i have to pick some it ll be Kallis, Vettori, Watson, Bravo and Collingwood. Kallis is the perfect choice, Bravo, Watson and Vettori are very fine all rounders, pollard as a batting all rounder but not quite effective bowler, same goes with Paul collingwood.Still due to his strong batting Colly will bviously come ahead of Pollard. Yuvraj if he improves his bowling under non turning conditions will be a far better choice tha nBravo and Watson

Going on form I'd pick Watson, but I feel Shakib has been doing it better for longer and the opposition hasn't been his fault, whenever he's been pitted up against better oppositions he's still performed

An alll rounder is someone who can be picked to play as a specialist in either department. In that list there are 3 guys who can do that, but two of them because of the team they're in. The only geuine all-rounder in world cricket right now is Vettori, can bat as a specialist batsman and bowl as a specialist spinner. The others are not good enough to play as a bowler alone or as a batsman alone. Calling Afridi or Bravo an all rounder is a joke, neither can play as a specialist batsman. Watson can't play as a specialist bowler. The world all-rounder is over used. Not many players are pure all -rounders, in fact even the mighty Imran Khan was barely a complete all-rouder with a batting avg not high enough to play asa batsman alone. Same with Sobers and his bowling. I wouldn't say they are bits and piecves players either, but somewhere in between.

The thread should be who is 2nd best all rounder at the moment. As Kallis is No1
Kallis isn't a good enough bowler to play as a bowler alone and stats show this, so I don't class him as an all-rounder. There is only one guy who has a good enough record with both bat and ball to be classed as an all-rounder, Vettori. Kallis is a top quality batsman, and a half decent bowler, but that doesn't make him an all-rounder. He is a guy who can bats extremely well and bowl a few overs here and there.

Kallis a half decent bowler? Do people believe that Watson would one day take more wickets than Kallis? About Vettori the point is that he is primarily a defensive bowler. Good for limited overs internationals but not of much use in Test matches. What does one do with bowlers who are not really wicket taking or aggressive? His batting has come on by leaps and bounds but I would not really call him an all rounder. His team needs him very badly though.
